Employers snooping social media

I understand that employers can sweep your online content for unpalatable views, but can you be sacked for them in the UK, even if they’re unrelated to the company?
We’ve been told to watch what we post in case people think they are the views of the company.
However my social media doesn’t reference the company in any way, so how could they make that case against you?
Also, what about the smb? As it’s anonymous, is there any (legal) way employers can link content on here to you?
@Roger
Aw gawd what have they found Dave ?:confused::lol:

Only parsnip is a private forum, the rest is open to everyone.

Probably would be concerned at the fact you’d love to stand in a field and watch children get crushed to death by buildings.

It’s alright because you don’t know them iirc

They would have to prove you were posting in work time and using their wifi though.

I'm pretty certain we have a policy regarding what is acceptable use of company-provided IT. If using your own phone on a corporate WiFi network then that's probably a bit more difficult to trace due to DHCP and non-user-specific credentials to access that network.

If posting over cellular on your own device then I suppose that's more just a question of skiving.

That’s not exactly what he said mind.
It was mind :lol: he said he would love to stand and watch an earthquake hit and witness the buildings crumble to the ground. When challenged about the families inside said buildings he said he doesn’t matter as he doesn’t know them. Indefensible really so not sure why you’re trying

I’d assume if your employer found you being a full blown racist they’d sack you regardless if your profile says where you work or not
This has happened at our place. Lad went on an anti Muslim rant which suggested he would be happy to commit violent acts against them. Sacked for being a head the ball.
