Can your boss interview for your position while you are in it?

My line manager hates me and has been trying to set me up for a while now. I was ambushed with a warning at the end of March. Seven working days later I was given a letter saying I was invited to a meeting to discuss my capability in my role and could bring a representative in with me.
I'm still on probation so on a week's notice.
I was sure they would fire me and didn't even want to go in but I did.
In the meeting I was much more prepared than when they ambushed me and I spoke up for myself very well, so much so that they apologised and my line manager was made to look like the inept spiteful fit up artist she is.
I found out subsequently from my agent that they have interviewed at least one candidate for my role.

Are they allowed to do that?

Can I complain about it?

Agent?! Wtf do you do?

I'm pretty sure an employer can't interview for a role that's already filled, and the person filling it has shown no intentions of leaving.

Why does she hate you?

Are you shit at your job?

If the answer is no, then shit in his knicker drawer.

It was the same for me at School, every one of them teachers hated me

Don't know about the legalities of your current situation, but i know you've mentioned in the past that you are one of the best in the country at what you do so why worry ?

That was probably a completely different made up job mate. Remember this is CatRyan world we are dealing in, it has numerous realities taking place at once.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

You're out of your depth, your gaffer has noticed and called you out on it......they want rid of you, on this occasion they picked the wrong excuse/reason but they'll have you for your next mistake.

That's not a nice atmosphere to work in and you're hardly likely to become capable with them waiting to trip you up.

I just wanted to know if they were allowed to do that. I work in a specialised niche so jobs come up every now and again. On a week's notice I may not be able to walk into another position so easily.

I am very good at my job, hence the apologies, but I know with my boss gunning for me, being on probation and them interviewing for my role it is probably just a matter of time.

Have you considered it might be less to do with your ability to do your job and more to do with you being an irksome fantasist with little grip on reality?

Clearly not if they have warned you previously

Correctamundo. Hence my previous comment about "been one of the best in the country". Obviously not if seeing out a probation period is tough going.

Could be wrong like

The company is very shonky in every sense and I want to leave anyway. There is no question of my capability as they accepted. My boss had wrongly recorded my deadlines which I proved and was clearly gunning for me.
I will definitely get another position when one comes up, I was ready to go to another job a couple of months ago but my current employer begged me to stay and cut my hours by an hour a day.

I just wanted to know whether or not they can interview for my role while I am still in it.

You've seen it mentioned many times on here already that some people have been reinterviewed or had to reapply for their own jobs and they weren't agency staff but fulltime employees.

Do they take prisoners at your level?

Apparently not :)

Yes but they knew about that obviously. They are going through a kangaroo court process basically because they want someone cheaper. They tried to get me to help them avoid paying my agent and generally don't pay bills.
I seriously do not want to be associated with them for any longer than necessary. It may bs a couple of months before another suitable position comes up.
