Emma Hayes

I totally agree. But to dismiss her qualifications and experience to say she would fail or never gain respect is far too simplistic and misogynistic.

She may fail, plenty of men have and will continue to do so.

The “reasons” given on this thread why she will fail are bullshit though!

Tbf, in football management formal qualifications mean very little. There's any amount of failed managers who are fully qualified.

She probably does deserve the chance to manage in the football league. However realistically, I can't see any club higher than a struggling league one club taking a punt on her. If as previously speculated that she thinks she's better than that, then she'll never get the chance. Because regardless of gender, the WSL is an uncompetitive tin pot league.

As a UEFA A Licence coach I disagree that quals mean very little. They open doors. To manage in the Premier League you have to have your Pro Licence for example - so that puts Hayes in a selective group.

I will quantify that I know some very highly qualified coaches that aren’t very good, and alternatively I know some coaches that have their Level One and are excellent! So quals don’t mean success at all.

Agreed that she is showing a certain amount of arrogance regarding opportunities of that’s true.

The WSL is a similar to the SPL as a previous poster mentioned. Didn’t stop the like of Rodger’s or Gerrard.

Or Ten Hag for that matter.

I’m not saying she’d succeed but with the quals and experience it’s very small minded to suggest she’d fail on the grounds that she’s female.

If having a pair of tits is a reason to not get a jog then Bruce and Evans are knackered!

Does anyone have a female boss?

I do. I respect her. Because she’s smart. I couldn’t give a fuck about her gender
You aren’t a footballer earning hundreds of thousand pounds a week though.

Top footballers stopped playing for the best managers like Mourinho and Wenger but will listen to Emma Hayes? Just won’t happen.

So you think she would get the respect/support of a 100% male squad? 😳. who would clearly view her opinions as null and void!
In 2022, absolutely. Or to the extent any male manage gets the same respect. You'll never please the whole team but the modern day players won't be stuck in the dark ages like some fans.

Simply not true

The egos of top footballers won’t listen to a woman manager. To pretend otherwise is ridiculous.

I’m not disagreeing mate. Top footballers would never listen to a woman coach though. Their ego won’t allow it.

I don’t think you can group all top footballers together. DCL for example is clearly progressive and I can’t imagine him refusing to listen to a coach purely based on their gender.

I think you can. Players won’t listen to a woman coach.

Players won’t listen to a woman coach.

This is why I want to see EH given a chance.

We won’t know until she’s given one. She needs to help herself and other women who could potentially follow in her path by taking a job on offer, though. She’s not too big for a team like Wimbledon.

I am fully behind her having a go in the mens game, but I f***ing hate that term Progressive does he believe women can have a penis aswell.

Love to hear her as a pundit. She says some insightful stuff and steers away from the cliches others are too happy to use. I'm pretty sure she knars her stuff but not sure if that's enough to be a successful boss of a mens team. I'm hoping time will tell but I wouldn't also want us to be the ones to take the risk. Mind you if it were her or Parky or Grayson......

So neither have experience then? So why does one get a job?

I would disagree.

There's much more to management these days than just managing. For example I would rather play under Wayne Rooney than Emma Hayes.

I wouldn't take Emma Hayes seriously. This is sports management not project management.

People will argue for the likes of Jose and Ferguson not being great players but Jose was backroom staff at one of the worlds biggest clubs. He didn't just tip up and become a manager. Ferguson was actually a pro himself.

What's Hayes achieved? She's won trophy at a level lower than under 16

Are you a real person?
No

 just because you are all desperate for it to happen, doesn't mean it will.

I'll never knock EH achievements as a manager in the women's game, she's a great manager in that environment, but you're all mentalists if you think she will successfully manage a club in the men's game. Just like a woman will never play in the man's game.

She'll be sacked after a few weeks, when the employing club her realises their mistake. Then...no other clubs would entertain the risk ever again.

What experience does Rooney have of sports management or project management? Zero
