They fundamentally are not the same though. The game is played completely differently between men and women. Everything about tactics is different, the way the game is approached by the teams is different, how they intend to score goals, defend its all different. If you can’t understand that you are stupid.

Just because it’s the same name and rules doesn’t mean it’s played the same and therefore the skills are not necessarily transferable. There’s a reason why foreign managers generally struggle over here, because as you say it’s again a different sport. Yes there are counter examples but more than not foreign managers fail. Similarly with English managers going abroad, and foreign managers moving between other leagues.

I think the men’s game is incredibly macho anyway in general terms. There’s definitely a large element of who’s the most important going on - see the fiasco at Man Utd as a prime example. Can you really imagine Pogba for instance responding well to a woman he had never heard of as manager?

Pogbas a terrible example like as the blokes an absolute bellend.

Personally I’d have no issues with a woman being in charge of us if she had the right leadership qualities.

She's won more than Sarri who incidentally has won literally fuck all.

.. In something that is equivalent to the Sunday League .. Yeh that qualifies her ffs. Your comment is stupid man ..

Is this a woosh? Actually i am wrong it is the same sport, so why don’t chelsea just appoint one of the mothers who take little kickers sessions, it’s the same sport and Chelsea would save a fortune

.. That's about the strength of it ..

Good for her. And Chelsea, if true

It would be great to shake up the manager gravy train/musical chairs.

Sam Allardyce (7 Prem clubs). Mark Hughes (6). Alan Pardew (5). Harry Redknapp (5). Roy Hodgson (5). David Moyes (4). Neil Warnock (4). Chris Hughton (4). Steve Bruce (4).

Then you have another 18! who have manged 3 Prem clubs, like Pulis, Benitez, Brendan Rogers...

I'm fed up with the same old names appearing at another club for a few million more.

The overpaid pricks in the premier league didn't respect people like Bradley or Paul Ince, they're not going to respect a woman. It's terrible but it's true. She'd be more likely to have success further down the leagues where the players are paid less and as a result have less power.

They didn’t respect Paul Ince because he’s an absolute knacker.

Bradley was out of his depth in English football as well.

Aye, those foreign managers are being schooled by the British lads in the Premier League at the moment

Good to see you read what I said. I said that a high proportion of them fail, noting obvious exceptions.

Pogba is a good example in as much as he’s (sadly) reflective of the football populace. Games filled with bellends sadly, we’ve had our fair share.

I don’t have a problem with a woman in charge, but I think jumping into a top job from whatever success in the woman’s game is stupid. If she’s good enough she needs to go and prove herself in something more reflective of the premier league, such as the lower divisions of the men’s game first. I don’t see the woman’s game successes as directly transferable or evidential of ability to manage the mans game and she’d need to earn some respect from players and fans alike to overcome the stigmas attached. Again, rightly or wrongly, there will be a lot of doubts due to her gender and the best way to dispel them is to be a success in the men’s game at any level

There'll be a respect issue as in all of society where some men don't like being told what to do by a woman. It should be the case but will doubt happen.

You've got a Woman as Prime Minister (as we have in New Zealand) how does that work, sure that's a man's job

I do think you raise some valid points to be fair. It will be interesting to see how it actually goes down as I believe it will happen at some point. I can’t see a premier league club taking the plunge though in all honesty, at least not right now. It’s happened around the world already in places like France though so a woman managing in the football league may not be far off.

Could see it working in the lower leagues where players basically have to play to earn a living, get new contracts etc. I think until a woman has worked her way up that way, there's no way you could just drop her into a role at Chelsea and expect their squad to respect her. They'd either take the piss or want a move.

I read it's been a poor season for Chelsea's women. Sounds to me like people are putting her forward just because shes a woman.

It's barely even a comparable sport like. I'd have no issue with employing a woman but she'd be better served working behind the scenes as a coach in the men's game first imo

Phil Nevillle has managed the transition between men’s and women’s football pretty seamlessly to be fair

No, you’ve already explained that it’s not played the same. That’s tactics. The EPL plays a different style to La Liga because tactics.

But no matter how you dress it up, it’s the same sport.

I honestly can’t believe I’m actually having this debate. Think about what you’re saying.
It’s definitely a different sport. They don’t have goalkeepers in women’s football.

Can you provide me a list of recently successful British managers please? Just so I can have something to compare to.

Thanks

I’d like to see her get a job in the men’s game should she want it, but she’s destined to fail starting at Chelsea. Needs to cut her teeth in the lower leagues first.
