Emergency Board Meeting

He's not like. Quinny is an absolute legend and my favourite person ever associated with SAFC by a fair distance, but the club is, was and always will be much bigger than any one person, Quinny included

Spot on.

Quinn is a legend and has done what he set out to do. I wouldn't blame him if he stepped down and started to enjoy his retirement.

if quinn goes then it could be the beginning of very dark times for our club. we have it good even after a dodgy start to the season. stability is so important in modern football. i hope everyone criticising bruce/quinn remembers this moment in a few years time if this goes pear shaped.

Bruce presser all done: O'Shea returns on Sunday, needs a result, good relationship with Short/Quinn but won't take it for granted. #SAFC

Oh no ... emotional readjustment required and another pissy knickered rumour required as quickly as possible. Otherwise, what's the point?

@CaulkinTheTimes Hi George, have you heard anything of an Emergency Board meeting being held at SAFC today ?

@richy_choc not sure why that would be necessary - Short was around last week & w/e plus played golf with Quinn & Bruce 2 days ago.

Come on bud, Short's not daft. If Quinn does leave I can’t really see much changing. Sir Niall came back to the club when we were at rock bottom and thanks to his effort we are now established back in the Prem. The bloke deserves a break from football and I can’t blame him if he does leave.

It wont be sacking Bruce...He played golf with Quinn and Short ealier in the week with assurance's money will be available in Jan Ssn...

Phew, excellent news pleased we have the backing of the board. Long live Steve Bruce, Niall Quinn and Ellis Short

If Niall goes, it is not the end of SAFC. Probably best for all concerned if he does go, because too many people starting to turn against him. If he hadn't played his part, we would not be where we are now. But maybe time for him to step aside and let more experienced businessmen run the club. He could maybe have ambassadorial role, which is more suited to his qualities, IMHO.

What are you talking about? A few numpties on here. If you took a poll of footy fans about support for their chairman I bet you Quinny would be top or near top. I think his concern is that Bruce is his choice and if Bruce fails then he may be obliged to go as well. As for his qualities under his stewardship we have gone from a 15 point team to one which has had 5 seasons in the Premiership up to now. In Sundelrand's recent history that suggest he's pretty good Chairman. It's fair to say I disagree with every word you have said.

'Emergency board meetings' tend to happen outside of normal working hours - so the minions don't get wind of them. The club's board meetings tend to happen after games.

Spot on apart from he WOULD be top! And rightly bloody so;)

Trees not growing? In all seriousness now, maybe telling Bruce that his job is on the line if he doesnt get a result on Sunday. And by a result I mean a win

Agreed- Quinny is great as a figurehead for the club since the fans love him and since he will always do his best for SAFC, but other than that the main thing he has done is the massive job of finding backers for the club and convincing them to come on board. He did it to get Drumaville which got us back in the prem, he then did it again to get Short which is what has helped push us up the table and establish us in the top flight. Assuming Short isnt looking to leave any time soon, Quinny might be feeling that he has done the main things that he can do. Not wanting to start an attendance debate but one of his other roles will have been to get the fans to reconnect with the club and translate that into high attendances. He has succeeded in many ways there (40k again last season was impressive) but with attendances likely to drop off and certainly not having much chance of pushing them up further than last seasons figures, he might feel he has done all he can in that regard.

If that is the case then I could understand Quinny thinking that his work is done and deciding that he wants to enjoy his retirement tbh, god knows he deserves it. He has never said that he intends being at SAFC for the long haul. If he stays then great, he can still act as a figurehead and communicate with the fans and he's also probably a very useful conduit between the players/ manager and the owner, I'm sure the players will feel quite comfortable speaking to Niall, as will Bruce, so he definitely can play a role. If he is wanting to leave, however, then this wouldnt be a bad time to do it and I trust Short to bring in a good team to continue pushing the club forwards. He'll leave sometime, I just hope that when he does he comes onto the pitch to give us the chance to give him the applause and appreciation that he deserves for the work he has put in that has been far, far beyond what we could ever expect any one to do for SAFC

Lovely and cosy. I wonder if they talked about the home defeats? How do you know by the way?
