Ellis Short - the worst thing to happen to SAFC in a near 140 year history

People on here try to appear on a higher intellectual and moral plane mate. Any sort of passion for your club is deemed as kneejerking as the "bigger picture" and a pragmatic approach is essential to maintain this facade.
Well have you got the money that Short continually pumps into the club to pay for all the mistakes Keane made?

If it was not for Short we would be debt ridden and sliding towards obscurity in division 3!

Oh wait...

Yes it’s a travesty the way he’s overseen a huge investment in the club, and our longest unbroken spell in the top flight for decades.

People need to get a grip. He’s made mistakes in his managerial appointments and if he’s guilty of anything, it’s backing the wrong managers too far. However he’s not exactly turned a profit at the clubs expense. He’s the biggest loser out of everyone on the back of what’s happened.
Oh behave!

He's a loser but not in the way you imply.

So what are you saying? He's done a terrible job but please don't criticize him for it?

I’m saying that he’s made mistakes but in that regard, you can just add him to a list of about 50 people who could have done better in relation to SAFC over the past ten years.

It’s easy with hindsight to say that we are worse off for him being here, but it could easily have been so much worse. He’s poured a fortune into the club and on various occasions, his willingness to prop up failing managers/squads with another spending spree probably kept our head above water longer than would otherwise have been the case.

Having been relegated, I see the sense now in using the parachute payments to clear the debt and rebalance the books. In the circumstances it seems to me like that’s the best/most responsible thing to do.

People support the club in their own way and it’s all about opinions. Maybe you perceive people to be on a different intellectual plane because they’re a bit more calm about the situation? There’s not much that we can change unless you hang out with billionaires.

The few usual suspects (less and less of them all the time thankfully) are pretending to be "calm" about it now as if they've got some great perspective when in reality they've spent the last few years desperately defending the indefensible, criticizing anyone who points out the obvious and now they can't admit they were completely wrong. Instead they're the voice of reason, despite their viewpoint being the most irrational of all.

There appears to be one very evident and contrasting view emerging on here..... over who is actually 'responsible' for this nose dive we are in.

Seemingly - to some - provided ES has been recruiting the best people he could find, and gave them cash to then recruit their own underlings, then he's done 'his bit'. He's done the best he can / had the bests interests of the club at heart, etc. but at the end of the day, it didn't work out.... not his fault, bah, blah, blah...

Sounds to me like the type of spin you get when some wealthy @rseh0le sits in front of a panel of MP's and says "Yes, I was in charge but I didn't really know what was going on... can I plead ignorance and incompetence?"

Sorry, but he's not just the owner - he's also Chairman and custodian of the club. That all comes with responsibility.

All this twisting I'm reading is simply unacceptable and I have to wonder whether those spouting excuses on his behalf are actually his - or the clubs - employees.

F*** Ellis. F*** his mealy mouthed excuses. F*** his pathetic blame being attached to all and sundry whilst he's presided over this club for nearly 10 years without ever showing that he had a seriously thought-out strategy or development plan in place. The man is a buffoon - it's hardly surprising he's lost boats loads of cash - the miracle is that he ever made any when he's capable of error after error after error that has saddled us with such debt.

How many of those 50 owned the club? one. How many were employed by Ellis Short? 49.

The buck stops with him.

How? Aside from Man Utd, have any other clubs in Britain got our levels of external debt?
We are also on the cusp of being in the joint worst league position in our 140 year history.
