Regarding the appointment the Guardian reports:

"the Sunderland owner Ellis Short’s anger and frustration at the manner in which he perceives the FA has poached his manager."

and

" It has, though, been slowed slightly by Sunderland’s desire to gain a little more than £2m by way of recompense for the disruption caused to their transfer plans and pre-season preparations. Short was particularly irritated by the near two-week hiatus which followed his manager’s interview for the England job and immediately plunged the club into a potentially harmful limbo."

maybe some of you should just tell Ellis to "man up" - "get over it" -" stop crying", etc...

He has every right to be angry. It's been an absolute farce and hampered the club.

Not sure how he can think they've poached him when we gave them permission to talk to him.

We should hold out for nearer £5m mind

If they could pay that useless old twat Hodgson £3.5m a year to be a knacker - then maybe we should. They've obviously got money to waste - and even more considering Sam's appointment - another one doomed to failure! :/

I'm pleased he's taking them on.

People on here moan and bitch because they perceive us to be a soft touch (although they never seem able to provide evidence of it) yet now when we show some steel, they moan that things are dragging on.

You missed out the part where it says Sam wasn't happy that Ellis only gave him 50% of what he wanted to spend. Maybe if had given him it all then we wouldn't be in this situation

Ellis' reaction isn't wetting the bed though, unlike some of you lot on here, he's just rightfully hacked off, particularly at how long its taken.

Im with Ellis here. While I have no issues with Sam becoming England manager and I really do hope he makes a success of the role, I think that the waiting has cost us valuable training and recruitment time. This needs to be compensated and he will get more by being angry about the situation, not by being happy about things

Ellis has the clubs interest and the fans interests at heart. He is right to be annoyed at the FA, they have handled this badly as well as the timing being absurd. Get our new man in, and get on with the work behind the scenes to strengthen our team.
The FA can go and kiss my arse from now on, I have never liked them and never will from now on. Good luck to BSA, he came, he done what we wanted him to do , he's gone now move on up with Moyes.
