You're very cynical.
I thought you were being massively racist until I read the last lineBefore the Cardiff game I was standing near the main entrance and some lass had a charity bucket for brownies, Ellis walks past and the lass asks him to donate not knowing who he is. Cool as you like Ellis pulls his wallet out and chucks in fifty quid then says 'Y'know where I come from if you support the brownies you get a box o' cookies'.
f***ing love Ellis me
You haven't got a clue about accounting procedures.God we have some mean spirited gets as fans like.
Like most of us Ellis likes to celebrate when there's something to celebrate ffs.
Why read some cynical agenda into it? He's spent a fortune he'll never get back and he supports as well as owns the club...
Nah, coz you can't attribute general income to specific players. You can certainly look at capital outlay plus wages over contract period as being specific to that one player....
You haven't got a clue about accounting procedures.
Wrong. No wonder the financial system went into meltdown if people like you are employed.Actually I do - having passed various accounts exams and dealing in corporate restructurings daily in my job.
Take a player like Seb - signed on a free.
Let's say his wages are £40,000 per week. Over the 3 years he has played for us that's £6m or so.
It is a perfectly correct statement that 'we have spent £6m on him'.
You are wanting to net off general income against the cost of one item (Seb) - I've no idea how you would try to attribute a net profit/cost to him in that case but you can try if you like.
That's fine - but it doesn't in any way change that we have spent £6m on him and that you need to include wages in the total spent.
For both of you clever clogs then: - A footballer is an asset yes? Like as soon as Seb (your example) signed a contract we could in theory sell him for £6 million (his proposed wages for the contract) and make a profit. So would the £6m wages be depreciation of the asset (as footballers are traded as a commodity) and therefore can be accounted for against the individual in some way? I know nowt about accounting mind - just an uneducated observation. What's wrong? That we spent £6m on Seb's wages? That's an entirely accurate statement.
Perhaps the reason it went into meltdown is that clever clogs like you somehow convince themselves that we haven't and he was 'free' as we didn't pay a transfer fee?

Would be more impressed if he spent money getting a decent striker in rather than buying the fans a few pints every now and again.
Not sure you understand how much strikers cost. Or pints, marra.
