Elliott Embleton

Deeney - signed for Championship Watford aged 22, and had rocked up 119 League One appearances for Walsall before that.

Lambert - 100 n odd league appearances by the time he was 22, albeit at a lower (this) level.

Holt and Vardy - yeah fair enough, a bit different. Both had to do it the hard way. Holt - Carlisle deal fell through due to the club going bust. Played non-league, got a deal at Sheff Wed, ended up having to drop down the divisions and work his way back up. Vardy - slipped through the net, Sheff Wed again. Played non-league football and worked his way back up. The one thing they share in common is they went out and got games.

You might have an argument with playing "sterile U23 football for too long" where the likes of Embleton and more recent trainees are concerned, but I don't think it can be applied to the four lads you rhymed off above.

Personally, I think U-23 football should be done away with. Or at least massively overhauled.

 We've given him contracts and opportunities and years of coaching/physio at a category A academy. What more can the club do for him?

That recent run of games that have seen us climb to third in the table, with a golden opportunity to clinch an automatic spot, and win a trophy whilst we were at it? Aye, sounds a mint time to be hoying in an unknown quantity.
Liam Bridcutt has far less experience in midfield, but plenty of energy and ability? Are you sure about that?
The club have handled our young players terribly for years. Yes they give them contracts but they play youth football til they’re 23 and then they’re released. They have to get experience at senior level if they’re going to develop either by getting minutes in our first team or out on loan.

Someone brought up Sanderson. The only reason he’s got more games to his name than embleton is that wolves found him loans so he could develop playing men’s football. The loans of Robson, embleton etc came far too late.

Aye that's true enough like. I'm a long standing critic of the way that academy has operated and U-23 football.

Hopefully, the appointment of Speakman and the overhaul of the development side of the club will ensure that individual players have individual pathways for their development against which they can be assessed, rather than decisions being made solely on their age or number of first team appearances.

Because they look like they could be that form team coming from know where

Mate, we will finish above Blackpool, we'll also be promoted automatically. Don't worry.

Peterborough and Hull are our biggest threats. I recall similar posts this season about Lincoln, Portsmouth, Doncaster, Accrington Stanley and most recently Oxford. Fortunately our players won't be contemplating every possible doomsday scenario .

Don’t worry he says before saying doomsday scenario. I worry less than you it would seem.

Johnson spoke very highly of Embleton and they even made sure he had a new contract before going out on loan for games.

No need for your last line either. None of us know. You included. All we can do is hope they kick on and prove to be good players for us

Johnson asked him to stay

They are the only teams I look at as they are the only teams that can stop us from automatic. We will finish above one of those and probably both.

it’s hardly from no where mind, they’re 3rd over the last 5 games, 3rd over the last 10, 2nd over the last 15, 3rd over the last 20, 3rd over the last 25 and only 2nd over the last 30 games on goal difference. They’ve been on a good run for a while now.

Not as good as us like, we’re top over the last 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 games ;)

Too many numbers make my eyes bleed.

Will he be playing for Blackpool in the play offs?

Yes. The Blackpool boss confirmed we couldn't recall him during the week. I'd gather theres an agreement for him not to be able to play against us though, as he appeared in neither league game.

If Oxford have the tie wrapped up with half an hour left can we instruct him to kick lumps out of their best players/try to get them sent off?

Should be brought back immediately to not only strengthen us but to weaken Blackpool.
Edit : wasn’t aware of the latest news that we could not bring him back.

Worrying that LJ wasn't aware of the rule either asa few weeks back he said he would be recalling him even though he cant feature for us.
