Elliott Embleton

I don’t get the ‘he’s 22’ argument. Players often mature later now. Deeney, Lambert, Holt, Vardy, and there’ll be others. I blame it on sterile under 23 football for too long. Very rare do you have 18 year olds making an impact in the first team of clubs. Foden is a special talent, City protected him til the time was right.

As others have pointed out, Embleton made an impact at International level through the youth levels. We sent him out a division lower than where we were to get professional games. He did, was one of their best players.

He comes back to us first into a very cautious Ross side, gets a nasty injury. Then Parkinson gives him some sub appearances and the odd start. He’s now started playing regularly again after we send him out to the level we’re at, Blackpool lad on here is singing his praises. Still some on here have written him off completely.

I’m glad the likes of Speakman are making these types of decisions now. He might not turn into Messi, but I reckon he’ll get further than say, Honeyman?
He was sub for them like a few games ago

Honestly think he could go on to be a regular for us if he stayed fit and had a decent run. Sheffield United in the cup last season (or maybe season before) he was the best player on pitch until he went off injured at half time.
Can’t see any reason why somebody would want to bring him down as a player he has potential!

He made 14 appearances - as you say mostly sub appearances. There's a reason for that. He's not an 18 year old. He's 22 and if he was going to make it should've shown a lot more. He didnt take his opportunities however limited they may have been. Parkinson didn't fancy him and it's clear Johnson doesnt either.
Diamond will be a carbon copy imo.
Be great if they both kick on and become Championship players with us next season - fingers crossed - but unfortunately they wont.
People with opinions similar to yours have been saying he’s 22 for ages on here to strengthen their argument.

He’s actually still 21 for a few more weeks so you’ll maybe have to start saying 23 soon.

Young players progress at different speeds especially if injuries are involved, we’ve seen it many times with players like John Egan. He was doing very well before breaking a leg and having complications in his recovery. By the time he was fit again he’d passed a magic age milestone and was Deemed not good enough by someone employing your logic.

When we look to sign a player aged 22 we all say “good age, time to develop “ but when he’s one of our own we seem to think if they haven’t become a regular first team player then they never will.

You seem very annoyed he's doing well at the moment you should be proud
Na not annoyed just sick of the shit that Comes out of you so called fans mouths, if a player scores a goal he's best thing since sliced bread then the next week your slagging them off. Yous know nowt about footy just armchair wannabees who have never played the game 🤔🤫

Excellent point tbh

Never given a chance unlike some
He has. By going out on loan and playing regular football. He will have more of a chance now than if he stayed with us and had a few sub appearances. That's what the loan system is for.
Just like were doing with sanderson.
Hopefully Embleton will have gained so much from regular football that he can be an important player for us next season

It’s the way a lot of our fans are unfortunately Demand ‘kids get given a run’ then Do nothing but slag them off when they play. It’s the same with Hume lad was getting pelters towards end of last year despite being our best player

Johnson spoke very highly of Embleton and they even made sure he had a new contract before going out on loan for games.

No need for your last line either. None of us know. You included. All we can do is hope they kick on and prove to be good players for us

Yes, but if we sign somebody that's 22, I expect them to have had more than 50 league appearances to their name, else I'd be very concerned by their signing.

I watched him last night against Peterborough and thought he looked very calm and assured on the ball and always seems to have time. I like the look of him and can definately see him coming back here ready to put a claim in for a place. Well done that lad.
He can pass with both feet too, very rare at most levels especially this one , he looks a real player good brain , good feet

I wouldn’t be against recalling him just so Blackpool weaken as if they end up in the play offs and we do then I think we can only but say it was our own daft fault.

He’ll come good, been very unfortunate with injuries but he’s highly thought of over there. Rightly so, you don’t represent your country various levels if you don’t have something about you.
