Elliott Embleton

Power and Honeyman are poor, McGeough looks likely to leave, Catts and Leadbitter are advancing in years and O’Nien has yet to have a proper run in the middle.

Looks canny thin to me.

I don’t see how his height is relevant tbh
I think we need a balance of height and physical presence in the team - it's currently lacking.

probably be left with Cattermole Honeyman and leadbitter from that group ! Not good at all for the energy and skill we need to get out of this league

f***ing hope not! Two players coming to the end of their careers....and showing it.... and one who's not good enough. As you say,we need pace and box to box energy in there, and if Embleton can provide that then he should be able to get the assurances he allegedly needs.

Yeah the sheer numbers in midfield will be giving him pause. 6 midfielders in the squad with Embleton and potentially Robson and Mumba to accommodate. Personally I’d be looking at shifting on at least 3. We need to bring in a good quality starter too.

Personally I would give him a chance but I don't think he will ahead of Leadbitter mcgeoch power honeyman or catts

Only seen him play a couple of times and didn't really stand out. Seems a lot of people have mind judging how highly he is rated on here. Take it he should be a starter next season?
By all accounts did very well at Grimsby last season, their fans rate him and I was reading he was behind a lot of their best attacking play. League below and no guarantee he'll make the step up and all that but the fact he's gone away on a season's loan at somewhere other than Gateshead or Hartlepool and done well can only be a good sign.

[problem is, JR diesnt really play with an attacking CM-can embelton play no.10 or wing?

Hopefully gets a chance to impress then mate. Our current midfield options depress me greatly.

Can't see it from JR he has seemingly ignored McGeoch as an option for 2 players well past their best so he'll be gone and IMO we'll be left with the 2 expensive, slow sidewards and backward passers who will chop and change as their legs give up ! Think onion will be gone and I'm completely indifferent about power who flatters to deceive. Honeyman will continue to try and we will suffer accordingly. Can't see JR suddenly resolving in pre season what a succession of managers have systematically failed to do ! Some of them thought the likes of Buckley et al were the answer !!

Looked impressive on loan at Grimsby last season but can't see a path to the first team for him just yet, which is a shame as he's probably worth a spot on the bench.
