Elite Dangerous

I rarely use the Cutter. Trading and mining isn't profitable enough. The Vette is better for combat against big ships. The Cutter can't be used for exploration and its too large to be used for general purpose stuff.

I could probably survive with the AspX, the Python, the FdL and the Vette. Trouble is, once I've bought a ship I find it very difficult to sell it even though I have no use for it.

And speaking of amount spent on ships and outfitting...

Massive shame about trading because it was the first thing I mastered, in the beginning it was well paid even if it was dull.

I'm not fond of having more than three ships at a time, I'd be happiest with the DBX + one other.

DBX aside I still don't have a favourite ship, although I liked the Python and FAS when I had them.

I've decided the Python edges the Anaconda, a ship I like but for various reasons has lost me more money than any other ship :(

Other ships are class at first but then I start to see their bad points.

I hear you about the Cutter but if I don't like it I can still use it to unlock a couple of engineers, get prismatic shields, pack hound racks, enforcers, hammers etc and mebbes try for top 10 community goals.

Then I can go around saying "Aye I had a Cutter once... Shite”

I Sola Prospect at Brestla 1 A has everything but unlike Founders World you don't need Elite status to access it.

Its a bit bizarre but your fighter pilot waits in the crew lounge when not active on your ship and the crew lounge somehow travels everywhere with you. So if you switch to a single-seat ship at one station then travel to another station half way across the galaxy to where you have a multi-crew ship you can just select your pilot from the lounge to be active on the new ship.

Don't ask me how it works!

Oh and yes, your pilot will claim their share regardless of whether they are crewing a ship or not.

All in all I'm not that impressed with it really. Its woefully under-gunned and underpowered - I had to wrestle with it to get the guns to fire without cutting out after 10-20 seconds. It takes forever to refuel. The shields are weak as piss even with G5 mods.

On the plus side its very maneuverable... but thats about it. To be honest if I wanted to take something out just for fun it would be the FdL or at a pinch the FAS or FGS. But not this.

I had the Vulture just after the Viper and Cobra (which I didn't like at all) and was a massive boost in combat for me. Taking down Anacondas without breaking a sweat and could happily sit in a res point all day without any hassles raking up daft money. Once the combat upgrades got done tho it became an absolute waste of space in a 1 on 1 against any kind of big ship. Rocket or anything similar up the arse and you are fucked. Rammed and you are in big shit.

Still love it tho and can hoy it all over the place with it's thrusters spinning round asteroids etc.

Think I had pulse lasers on mine and could fire for ages before it started to die off. Which back in the old days when you could get behind ships and just continually pepper them to death.

I'm back to picking on the AHM in Merope.

Got a bit pissed off as I was logged into Mobius and another player in a Conda dropped into the HazRES. Now I like to be thorough and use the KWS on all targets before I open fire. Not this c**t! Every time I targeted someone and started scanning them he would open up on them leaving me with the prospect of being accused of kill-stealing if I then opened up too.

In the end I logged out of Mobius and went into Solo. So much for community gaming!

Should have just told him to fuck off.

Tbf I only ever play in solo don't think I've even spent half an hour in open.

Well she took some prettying up but here she is. Got a range of 28.9 ly, 300 top speed and 471 boost after engineering.

The speed is offset by horrible steering but it is ideal for bombing past pirates with a full cargo hold. It's easier to put through the mail slot than a Conda and when I get some decent shields will take one hell of a kicking. It's an excellent trader but not really a multirole ship. She'll get me to Elite trading then I can set up home in the Jameson clubhouse before I powerplay and unlock some engineers with her.

Oi!!! There's only room for one big pink dildo in this galaxy!

Another couple of things about the Cutter

1) If the shields go, bad luck. The Hull is made of cinder toffee

2) The repair bills are incredibly cheap compared with the anaconda. Like 1/10 the cost.
I suppose its all a matter of compromise. I sacrificed jump range and cargo capacity for survivability. I have a fighter bay too and mostly use her for transporting medium loads in the near vicinity of Merope. God help anyone who tries to interdict her!

I can always take out the Hull Reinforcement Modules and replace them with cargo bays from stores if needs be.

So I came across a station in an asteroid belt last night and visited one actually built into a big f***ing rock the other day. Was a little surprised to see them.

Still 2 days left on my 130k bounty in Merope it's doing my head in, can't go anywhere without getting dict.

Aye, but nearly there now. Probably will next time.
I swear to God its karma!

I'm based at Alcazar's in Merope and after my last post I decided to just do a couple of little missions to kill some time. So I took one delivery job to Maia and one planetary scan in Merope. The idea was do the planetary scan and get a 10 minute bounty which will time-out by the time I do the delivery to Maia.

When I get to the building in Merope there's an Eagle buzzing around so I scan him. He's clean. He then comes out with the "What do you have in your hold?" line so I think here we go and deploy hardpoints. He then opens up so I do the same and 5 seconds later he's dead.

And I have a friggin 1 week bounty because the useless c**t missed me when he fired so wasn't marked as wanted when I killed him!

I'm now in Agricola's Ascent in Pleiades Sector DL-Y D65 buying a Sidey to go back and suicide at Merope. My normal Suicidewinder is in Alcazar's Hope so I can't risk going back there to get it.

And they don't sell Sidewinders here so I'll have to get an Eagle and use that. Oh well... one more ship to add to the fleet.

The Youthful Indiscretion all squeaky clean after taking a pot-shot at Reed's Rest.

This is getting silly now! I've got myself back to Unfriendly with the AHM by doing some passenger missions for them. Thought I'd go a bit easy and work on rank progression for Fed and Empire by taking loads of "Industry needs..." missions out of Alcazar's. At one point there were a total of 24 dangerous/deadly Fdls/Pythons and Condas all looking for me at the same time.

Fortunately I was in my hull and shield tanked Cutter with a fighter escort but I still had to fight my way through 16 of them before I made it back to port.

Unfortunately they were all AHM stooges so my rep with them is now hovering dangerously back just above Hostile again.

Time for more passenger runs.

I am enjoying the Cutter. If a ship just couldn't give a fuck it's this one.

Ramming things out the way, submitting to an interdiction then escaping in a few seconds, even in combat just hit reverse and swat pirates like flies.

That said I've lashed out my entire fortune on the Cutter. After upgrading to military composites I had to save up 40m just for the deposit

Survived the week and all the interdictions. Now running anti piracy missions. Pays Ok anywhere from 300k to 1.2m per mission and they only take 20mins.

Took on an elite Corvette the other day. Toughest fight yet, took forever to get the shields down and that was with my gunship, fighter and two escort eagles that were protection for the stricken type 9.

The only time I've ever pulled out of a fight in my Vette was against a Cutter. No matter what I hit it with its shields stayed up and mine just kept going down.

Probably had the 8A "God Shields" I've read about.

Went toe to toe with a FDL and it was all down to whose shields went down first.

It was close but once I got rid of them, he was space dust in 7 seconds
