Elite Dangerous

Here's something some of you may find useful. Enter the planetary co-ordinates of a surface site and it will talk you through navigating your ship to that spot by reading your present co-ordinates off your screen. Just remember to turn up the HUD brightness to full in Options or it can't read them properly. I used it to find Thargoid sites when collecting Alien Resin for Prof Palin. PC only, sorry.

Been away with work again, so just firing up the xbone for a fly about.

90% towards Elite explorer. It WILL happen in the next week or two :lol::lol::lol: I need about 20mill in exploration credits to do it.

Oh and before I hang up my explorer boots just found this (if it works posting from my phone) 76 objects in a system.. anyone seen one with more?

Rather than jumping in with the Conda straight off, going to combat outfit something smaller and get back up to speed with combat, in a hazres Will have about a billion or so, so money isn't really a problem - what do you all reckon? FdL, Vulture?

If you're eventually going for a Conda then you'll probably be wasting your time with a smaller combat ship as the tactics are totally different. With the big ships you rely on good hardpoint placement, module loadout and power management rather than flying skills. In my Vette I set the throttle in the middle of the blue then just soak up the punishment until the other fella is dead. :)

When going on pirate bounty missions I actively search out Vultures as they are piss easy to kill. FdLs take a bit longer but the result is the same so if you absolutely have to choose one I'd suggest the FdL but beware because it takes a bit of skill to actually use one effectively.

I winged-up with a mate last week, me in my Vette and him in his FdL. We took on a Conda and I told him to just stay out of the way. One dead Conda 3 minutes later and his first words were "Fuck me the firepower on that thing!"

Long term plan to rank up for a corvette mind. Tbh I’ll just want to buy something small and have a play about with some guns. I need some guns. Been exploring for months, and I want to shoot something Then will take my time and spec up the conda

That link you posted about planetary navigation, this is something similar that you can use if you’re on xbone or PS4
http://boulter.com/gps/distance/

Whack in where you are, and where you want to be, and it tells you where to point. It’s actually a geocaching tool, but it works just fine in ED. Used it a few times

Well I've finally done it. I've transferred every ship, weapon and module I own to Alcazar's Hope in Merope. So thats an AspX, an Orca, a Clipper, a Corvette, a Cutter and 60 assorted bits of stuff all in one place to single-handedly repel the Thargoid threat to our homes and our women. :)

 I’ll eventually head up that way. Still to experience the Thargoids, keeping out of the way until I stand half a chance !

Oh aye, I had a couple of spare hours today - and look what I went and did

 I’ve been to Founders World and spent half a billion quid too. It’s unreal, they have every ship and module in the game, for a 10% discount no pissing about looking for the modules. You can properly fine tune and tweak your build live in the game, instead of farting about in a third party app.

Now out in the Asp gathering mats/data to engineer the FSD on my shiny new Conda. Any tips for speeding the g5 engineering process?

f***ing brilliant! Well done CMDR 07.

Best tool I found for engineering is Scotty. Not on the PC atm but I'll put a link up later tonight. It shows you which engineer does what at G level, which mats each mod needs and how to find them. The most confusing thing I found was the difference between mass and optimal mass - especially when it comes to FSD jump range. The mass can increase with a mod but if optimal mass goes down it actually increases the range.

Here it is. Click the Engineers tab, click the Engineer you want, then the module you want to modify, then the modification you want to try and it will show which mats/data you need. Roll your mouse over the mat/data and it'll show you where the best places to get them are.

https://scotty.newlevels.org/

Another useful trick is that if you visit an Engineers base and look at the news reports under Galnet in the middle of the screen, one of them will list all the planets nearby that have high concentrations of any particular element the Engineer needs. Anthing above 2.5% is great. If you get to the planet and you're having no luck finding elements switch between open/solo and chances are the next rock you blast will have the element you're looking for.

I should charge for this service! :)

Nice one. I've only ever done G1 engineering. You don't have to progress through all the stages do you? Can I jump in and Grade 5 engineer something if I have the mats/data?

Turn's out I'm going to be visiting a place called Dav's Hope, an abandoned settlement for the Chemical Manipulators

When initially you contact an Engineer they only offer G1 upgrades. The more upgrades you do the higher level they let you have access to. Beware, though, some Engineers have a G limit they can't go above. For example, Felicity Farseer does great G5 FSD mods but can only offer G3 engine mods. Each Engineer tends to specialise in one type of mod.

You might find this useful for Dav's Hope: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/354425-List-of-goodies-at-Dav-s-Hope

I'm currently having a bit of a blast from my past. I took a few passenger missions in my Orca and am now currently sitting in Newholm Station in Sothis where one of the passengers wanted to see a tourist site. Sothis and nearby Robigo were where I made most of my dosh in the early days doing slave runs. :)

Just when I was starting to think the only decent paying missions in the Pleiades Sector were surface scans I found that docking in Obsidian Orbital gets you an offer from Prof Palin to go get various Thargoid bits and pieces.

Just spent 20 minutes at an alien crash site collecting 4 Alien Tech Samples and was given 20M in return. :)

And its repeatable!!! This evening I found out that if you leave Obsidian Orbital then re-dock you get offered similar contracts. So far tonight I've raked in 20M, 23M, 17M and 23M. And no-one has shot at me yet. :)

Another site which may be useful to the Goid hunters amongst you:

http://elitedangerous.hozbase.co.uk/customtable/view/unknownstructures?id=unknownstructures&system=

HIP 17125 A 3 A -65.8193 48.8662
Thargoid Biological Material, Technology and Resin all over.

Nice one. Are these simple courier type missions? Guess you need to get the rep up to get them?

Went to Davs Hope. Got an absolute fuck-ton of mats and data, probably enough to engineer most of my modules. Mats just respawn after you relog. Was good fun finding it. Only came away cos the SRV ran out of fuel. I’m off out prospecting for elements next.

My Asp, SRV, and Davs Hope...

All the contracts at Obsidian Orbital are for Thargoid material but you don't get them in the mission list, they appear as a private message from Prof Palin.

I've fitted out my Vette with 6x 2t corrosion resistant cargo holds so I come back with 4x resin, 4x tech and 4x bio materials. Then its just a matter of docking and re-docking at Obs. Orb. until the missions refresh.

Only problem is that you have to have access to Prof Palin's research lab to get the corrosion resistant cargo holds. To do this you need to be allied with Sirius Mining Co. and have traveled over 5kLy from your game spawn system (not a prob for you!)

You could just use an AFMU to fix the damage the Thargoid mats will do to your ship but that's a right pain in the arse.

I started with 320M yesterday afternoon and I'm now up to 577M today. And I've been faffing around doing other stuff too so the earning potential is up there with Quince.

GET IN YOU FUKKA!!!! Only 4% to go for Elite combat too!

Class mate. Get yourself to Founders World it’s brilliant
I'll be going there when the Chieftain comes out. :)

Went to Founders World sooner than I thought. Meet the latest addition to my armada, the Steely Glint (Federal Gunship.) She literally hasn't left the landing pad yet.

Not the prettiest of ships but fully A-rated and kitted out with Xeno weapons to take on the Goids. Now to do the Engineering circus and get her tweaked to buggery! :)

If anyone remembers a few posts back I was wondering whether to get a FGS or a FdL....... I've now got both.

This is the Attitude Adjuster.

Is there anyone on PC near Pleiades wanting to take on the Goids?

I reckon 3 ships will do it. Anything with 3 or more medium hardpoints.

One ship equipped with Flak Launchers to take out the swarms.

Two ships equipped with Ax Multi-cannons and AX Missiles to take out the hearts.

I can bring an FGS, an FdL, a Cutter or a Corevette to the party.

Search for Kekkonshiki in the Private Groups to add me.

Finally made it to cash billionaire - technically I've been a billionaire for a while but that was invested in ships and modules.

Now 98% Deadly. Took the FdL out for a run. :)

Ooh... Ooh! On the 13th of Nov we get access to an AX version of the Taipan SLF!

Get your pussy PC arses out to Plaiedes and help me squash the alien scum!!!
