Basics just not been there. And in respect to both SA and France you can tell by the way they started they didnt respect the opposition from the off, which is a very English problem

Long maintained that arguably the biggest problem in English sport is that there is an attitude of superiority and arrogance which is not borne out by the reality on the field.

England always seem to need to wait til they're behind to believe they need to take the game seriously unless they are against someone they deem worthy ala the NZ game. It's true in football and cricket to a lesser extent but rugby is by far the worst for it.

I'm not going to rule out arrogance, but there's also a definite lack of rugby brains on the field to sort things out when it's going badly
