EFL Salary Cap abolished

Is this with immediate effect? Wonder if some clubs will hold off offering contract extensions just in case the EFL can appeal this decision and some sort of salary cap does come into effect...

In practice then how can we use the new system? Re. Turnover etc.

Maybe Grumpy could help on this. Could we do Man City and sponsor the stadium to boost turnover or whatever clubs do? Interesting to see how the new owners make use of this.

I don’t think the EFL will look too kindly on that. Wasn’t there some big fuss over Man City and PSG owners (state owned) ploughing money into the club through sponsorship? Especially with the scrutiny on Sheffield Wednesday and Derby trying to get around financial rules.

Just another show of incompetence by the EFL.....f#ckers should be strung up and fined for doing such a dogshit job.

Won't make any difference to our lads in the last year of their contracts, they'll wait till the end of the season now.

But this is what other clubs do and legally I thought?

BBC reporting it as ...

“The English Football League's plans for salary caps in Leagues One and Two have been withdrawn following a decision by an independent arbitration panel.”

plans? They were already enforced weren’t they? Or did clubs just adhere to a proposed plan ?!

Been told by a mate that the flat cap won’t be coming back either, even through properly consulted channels. Trevor Birch has since been appointed at the EFL. He’s a friend of Pompey after being a big part of wrestling the club in its death spiral of Chainrai, and has privately had our ear in recent weeks.

The salary cap was a rushed through decision due to clueless rhetoric that money is out of control in football, and L1 and 2 were the guinea pigs of a minging bit of cost control legislation forced on by the DCMS. The little clubs couldn’t believe their luck in the summer.
