I always wondered how they had managed to get these to work legally as had been long under the impression we couldn't have them. Muppets.

most important news for a fair few weeks. just need the takeover, this time next year 10 points clear in league 1 in front of 40k crowds.

It was only ever about getting through Covid times wasn't it?
Fans will be back for next season.

So its served its purpose.

All of those players being out of contract now is nowhere as big a deal as it was. We can now actually clear the decks and the new owner can splash a bit cash on the squad

Was never going to last, idiots at the EFl can do nothing right, they should hang their heads in shame
We should have spent big in the window, this cap was always going to get thrown out, it was obvious, unfair and illegal PFA said so at the very start

I've said all along that so many players out of contract was a perfect scenario for us. If we were to go up, we won't want the majority of them. If we don't go up, we will be by far the biggest attraction in the league. There was always the possibility of losing someone like Willis or Hume to a team higher up, but hopefully this news allows us to tie down some of the better players and keep our powder dry with the others

couldnt we have tested the water and just splashed out Donald styli, knowing that they couldn't enforce it, you know we might have been able to sign a couple from Eastleigh and Morecombe

Yep. Now the cap has been withdrawn having so many out of contract is actually a God send 😅

Not the Top 20 Pod posting on Twitter that there are rumors that the salary cap may be overturned.

Hope to god this is true. Yes clubs need to be sustainable in this division but a flat cap is not the way to go. There is no reason a club our size should be limited to the same cap as clubs like Accrington Stanley for example who pull in significantly less revenue per season.

The cap well and truly screwed us over this January and may well be one of the factors In us not going up at the end of this season.

Absolutely....can you imagine the hoo haa in would create in the Prem if Brighton were same as Man U?

I hope we still make the most of the opportunity to restructure our squad make up, that the mass expiry of contracts is going to afford us this summer. I’ll admit I was quite excited at that prospect and the possibility it was going to make us a little smarter in our approach. I hope that’s not now abandoned.

I’d hate to see us retaining the likes of Power and dare I say it McGeady on contracts hugely disproportionate to the league and their contribution.
