You could buy a tartan key ring. You can also listen to bagpipes then you could buy a tartan key ring and listen to bagpipes.

That covers about 99% of Edinburgh.

jeffrey street whisky tasting session is a lovely way to spend an hour. did it the other week. the lad is incredibly knowledgeable, its like a history lesson in religion/politics/monarchs/whisky. and you get a bit tipsy

if you are looking for a nice bit of peace, walking the Water of Leith path is class, we stayed in an airbnb down dean village and walked along the water side path all the way to the museum of modern art, and then onto Stockbridge to look in the second hand shops/pubs. class pub we rolled into called the Oxford Bar, proper old, small drinking den.

have a look at the New Chapter for dinner, almost fine dining quality food, but relatively cheap

if its midweek, go to the dog house on clerk street, theres jam sessions on most nights i think, its lively and open late.

edinburgh is class

Mates coming over from Europe this weekend and staying there tonight and tomorrow before travelling down for the match.

What’s there to do (aside from the overpriced castle) and also can anyone recommend decent places to drink/ eat?

Cheers in advance,

Rose Street and King Street and kiss your wallet goodbye - unless you go to Spoons

Places to eat or more accurately, drink in Edinburgh.
That's two suggestions.
There's also some cracking pubs on the otherside of Waverley up the hill near the Castle.

There's The World's End if you want to go for a pint in a rather splendidly named pub

Where's King Street? Or do you mean Queen Street?
