Sheffield, wasn't it? That's when it started giving us 2 day old news and I stopped buying it.

And the price went up to 70p or something. Balls to paying that for adverts and 2 day old news.

If they still did the footy echo or brought that back I'd happily pay a quid or more for that.

I'd forgotten about the footy echo.
Back when I was 14 or so I used to deliver the echo around one of the estates. It seemed like every house had it delivered the newsagent got a small mountain of them dropped at his shop by the red echo vans. Fast forward a few decades and you never see a paperboy now. It's a shame a once great local daily became the shitty mess the echo is today.

I hope that they do a better job selling the company than the job they do in producing a newspaper.

Was it the one where you picked a GK and defence and then strikers, the result being what you scored vs what you conceded? Was a good format that.

I remember Robbie Fowler was one of the best you could pick. Fuck it, submitted my bid. Can you take care of the £220m debt mate? Cheers.

Time for a new incarnation of a paper representing Sunderland I say.
    Let the echo fade away................

It's awful now, they should never have closed the office and press at Pennywell. Didn't they used to produce 2 editions a day, and early one and late afternoon one? My nana and grandad used to have a paper shop and a Saturday there was always people lingering around waiting for the footy echo to be delivered.
The website is awful too, like a half arsed effort.
They should get the uni on board and get the students to run it. Make it a free paper and give it out at key metro stations, bus stations in and around sunlun and durham
  20. Len Lowther to purchase it
