Dwight gale? (Rumour)

His only good scoring seasons are when he plays Championship. Never done it in the Prem.

Someone mentioned the other day about finding the players too good for the Championship not good enough for the Prem. Gayle is pretty much the poster boy of that group.

Shame he is 32.
So is say it’s no at 32 and I can’t remember his last goal getting season . We need a younger more progressive situation , both current form and value for money contract wise

Championship is probably too good for him, if there was a league made up of lower prem and upper champ then he'd fit right in, be mad not to take it up if became possibility

He was a very good player at this level. Done nothing for 3 years though, 32, plenty of injuries as well. He's going to want to secure himself a nice 2 or 3 year contract somewhere on high championship wages, I wouldn't touch him, too much of a risk.

He's done nothing since he left. So not convinced you'd be getting the same player. And doubt he'd want to play for Bruce anyway.

Is or was? 18/19 his last season. 3 years a long time in football.

Far too long to justify giving him a 3 year contract on 20 grand plus a week and a hefty signing on bonus. Let another club take the risk and be the mugs for once.
That remains to be seen, if the hungers still there he has the ability to go with it. Would be a fan favourite here if he gets off the ground running and a bit of love and appreciation goes along way in football.

Havnt read the whole thread but imo is a similar type of player to Broadhead. Like Broady he often seems to beset with injury problems…..of the two i would plump for Broadhead

I would take him, but only short term and not at a premium wage. Both of which are unlikely to happen.

If we sign him, it could surely only be a last minute desperation move (very Sunderland).

What about the players that have served both clubs well?

David Young
Ron Guthrie
Bobby Moncur
Jeff Clarke
Paul Bracewell
Pop Robson
Lee Clark
The great Barry Venison spring to my mind, and I am glad Chris Waddle got to play in the red and white even if his best years were elsewhere.
