The final of the Durham county schools under 15 cup final takes place Monday 16th at 13:00 at Durham school...

The final is between Durham School and Hetton School and should be a good game

Durham will start favorites with 4 county under 15s in their team

But Hetton have some very talented players in theirs so let's hope for a good game!!!

Believe the winner will represent the county in the Northern area finals

High Tunstall
St Aidans
Thomas Moore
Monkwearmouth
Durham School
Hetton

They are 6 I know were defiantly in it.

Not sure how many teams take part but I do know that young Ord (son of our woderful centre half) from Hetton has scored a 50, 60 and a 100 in getting Hetton to the final..

I think its the teams who have PE teachers with an interest in cricket who tend to enter

The final has been played today between Hetton School and High Tunstall from Hartlepool And was won by Hetton with the scores Hetton 130 for 9 off 20 High Tunstall 112 for 9 good game although Hetton's depth in batting and bowling shone through... 4 players from Eppleton 5 from Hetton Lyons and one each from Burnmoor and Murton... The future looks bright for Hetton cricket..

Hetton under 12s also won their final yesterday so the treadmill of young talent continues and should become stronger with the emergence of the new cricket academy at the school:)

That wonderful centre half was a canny batsman himself-was it Murton or Dawdon he played for?

I believe it was Murton... He played one game for Eppleton last season and was knackered for a week...

Dickie has been a massive help to our junior sides over the last few years and umpires our under 11 side whenever he can;)

Good stuff. Never played in it myself. As has been related to - my PE teacher couldn't give a fuck about cricket unfortunately..... Basketball strangely enough was his vice.

Hope Hetton batter the posh kernts!

One of the biggest schools in Durham City, played cricket about 3 times in PE in 5 years. f***ing shameful.

Rest of the time was 5a side (fair enough) and shit loads of Basketball & Cross Country

Good luck Hetton ( my old school )

Thanks TVOR but the lads made there own luck today crazy thing was the other team tweeted they were playing in national finals..

Hetton 6th change bowler has had to cut back on his cricket as he is at SAFC and they don't want him to play to much ( he played county from 11 to 13) and our wicket keeper is at the Boro as a goalie and he's a cross between Alan Knott and Gordon Banks!!!

One of the big sports the kids seem to play now is murder ball??? Not sure why although it's easier than kabaddi!!??!! They really have to play cricket at Hetton school is because of the volume of junior club cricketers

Doesn't surprise me considering how much these academies wrap the kids up in cotton wool.

That said, Phil Neville on TMS the other week told how Alex Ferguson actually encouraged him to continue to play cricket in the summer months.

Richie was my opening partner at Murton. u'15 & u'18. He never really went on to play much men's cricket. Sunderland was his life by the age if 18/19.

Everyone at Murton CC knew he would have made a pro cricketer if football wasn't there in his life. Brilliant to see his son take over his mantle. I know Richie and his Dad will be proud of the young lad who is battering a private school !!!

 My recollection playing for Bede in around 1980 was being drawn away at Barnard Castle and being bowled out for 11. A music teacher ran the team and he felt utterly humiliated and had us in for the hairdrier treatment on the Monday morning. Apart from the impressive buildings and playing fields stretching to the horizon, they had a left arm spinner called Rory Underwood who must have taken most of the wickets as the wicket was a bit damp. Rob Andrew also played.

P.S. I scored my fair share - ct. square leg b. Underwood 1. I often wonder what became of the twat.
