Good news I don't think what division they play in makes a huge difference to the finances as the same punters turn up regardless of whether we are near the top of the first division or at the bottom of the second.
The club need to keep concentrating on their Academy keep producing players good enough for England. The payments they receive from this production line are vital. Also don't ever again go into debt to give players contracts a club like Durham cannot afford. If it means players leave for other counties for better contracts so be it.

Still think they need to get out into the community’s/ schools more , get more kids interested ....

They should be out across the region too, especially exploiting how bad the football teams are up here currently, offering an alternative.

Try and get the attendances up to get some more revenue in that way

100% behind this idea.

I personally think every single day of cricket that's played at CLS in the summer should have a school (or a group of schools) there playing cricket during the intervals and I'd give them one free ticket each to bring a parent/carer. If just 10 kids out of 1000 come back as paying customers it'll have been worth it.

Sit them in the blue seats so the old whinging fuckers in the members end aren't bothered by them ;)

I think watching Championship cricket will be more likely to put kids off. Empty freezing ground with nothing appreciable happening isn't going to engage many people never mind school kids. Fair idea for the one dayers
 
Get a couple of school 'teams' in from 11-2 during CC games with a free feed and a competition on the outfield. They would love that. A day off school, free hot dog and chips and a bit of a run around.

Hoy the knackered blue stand in the river and put a bouncy castle there!

If it puts off 99% of the kids that come, it's still worth doing - because for every 1,000 that come, there'll be 10 who come back ;).

And it might tempt them into cricket instead of football, enjoying the experience in the company of their school mates. Don't do it in April though when it's freezing.
 
I’d also argue, that while this is positive news, the club could still look at the pricing structure. Not for memberships but pay on the gate. If I fancied going to a T20 Blast on the day, it’s going to cost me upwards of £20. Fair enough it’s only 50p an over, but include my nephews and travel, it gets on a bit. Appeal to the area and set them at a flat rate of say £10 in advance and £15 on the gate.

I've been saying for years that the pricing should be reduced - not sure how much is dictated to them by FTECB though.

Personally I'd like to see BOGOF offers on Championship games, for example. Maybe even something like £5 after Tea but that entitles you to come in after Tea on all four days.

For me it's all about getting people in the ground. Once they're in, they might spend a few quid on food and drink, in the long run they'll be more than likely to buy merchandise or to pay full price for other games of cricket - if people feel like they're getting a good deal, they're more likely to put more money into it.

I'd even offer travelling fans more of an incentive to come to games. Perhaps offer a deal where you can pay £25/30 and get every day of cricket your team plays at Durham - so potentially 6 days of cricket.

I'd also look at offering members deals on food and drink in the lounge. Maybe give them 3/4 tokens for a free Lunch. Which they could use whenever they want through the season.

I appreciate it's a lot to give away overall, but if people weren't going to come anyway and you can get them to come for nowt or for less than full price, they'll be more inclined to spend when they're in. I think it would be a great move to show that goodwill to folk.

Expensive for a T-20 games in uk, only 11.50 pounds here in oz per adult and family of 4 for 25 quid

The first thing they should do is make entry to championship cricket free. Encourage people to call in for a session if they can't commit a full day and then encourage people to have refreshments while in the ground. The money they actually take at the turnstiles on a day to day basis for championship cricket is next to nowt.

Don't think they can go that far but definitely reduced rates

People might spend a few quid in the ground although a lot will bring food along. I am a member and it's fantastic value for money obviously the more time you have the better but compared to my SAFC ticket it's a total bargain

As much as I'd love that, because I can't commit the time for a membership to be financially viable - that would be counterproductive unfortunately IMO.

However, as I've alluded to, they could offer great deals to allow some sort of benefit - whether it be even as generous as charging £15 for one day, but that entitles you to the whole game. Or just BOGOF. Also offer the option of perhaps a £5 pass which gets you in for the last session across the whole game for those who work full time through the week.
 
I only took out a T20 ticket this year, last season was a 16-25 ticket, but they've scrapped that and reduced it to 16-21 or something, so it's either a full adult or a t20 (which are only games i can get too with working 9-5 mon-fri)
