Duo lingo

Memrise is good yeah.

I've been learning Spanish a while, but am at the point where until I have native speakers to speak to regularly, or spend a substantial amoumt of time living in Spain, I wonder if I'm wasting my time with regards to true fluency.
Plenty of Skype language buddy things around to help with that, I think. Are you doing anything like that?

I attend a conversational spanish class once a week in Billingham and am pretty ok reading and writing as I have time to think it out before hand but ironically Im shite at the spoken word unless I can plan ahead :) I recently started using babbel and find it very useful but Im on a PC with headphones and mike . I also use spanishdict.com as reference dictionary . It has all the verb conjugations with audio etc etc . PM me with email mail address and I can get you 1 month free
Another thing I struggle with is when to use the preterite or the imperfect :)

I did a course at Durham Uni in 15/16, beginners which I think is referred to as A1, and had every intent on continuing as I had intentions of living there one day. Of course, plenty happened since then, politically and otherwise, that's hampered my progress but I do need to be practicing with other people to progress to the next level.
Same here.
I was really enjoying the courses, and the small group of classmates, were a canny bunch too.
Our tutor used to organise a social night, once a month at a pub in Boro, where there'd be home cooked Slanish food available, and we'd get Spanish guests, from places like, á Coruña, Seville, & Valencia, and we'd each individually spend some time, moving around the tables, and speaking in Spanish, to the guests.
It was a great way to practice, and improve on our skills, and everybody enjoyed those nights, but sadly, the weekly class, had to be discontinued, because our multi lingual tutor, got a job, teaching English, in central Moscow.
The thing with learning a foreign language, is continuity, and to keep practicing often, which for differing reasons, is not always possible to keep on top of.

I tried the intro assessment and it turns out I am virtually French.

I speak a few languages, to varying degrees of competency, but certainly French is my strongest. Mind it should be for the number of years I’ve been speaking it.

I envy anyone who has a natural ability at languages. With me it all goes in one ear and out out of the other and I consider being able to order a beer in any language to be a major success.

I work with a lass who is originally from Barcelona and is bilingual in Catalan and Spanish plus professional standard German and English and can "get by" in French, Italian and a few others at a basic level which she just picked up while on holiday.

My french is the best I have.

In others, I struggle with the responses from other people.

On occasion I have spoken the local language to someone and they have determined I am an idiot and replied in English !!!

It gets stuff done quicker.

I'm at a good/decent level of 'get by' in Spanish, German & Hungarian.
I'm able to have conversations in all three languages, but would love to be able to dedicate more time, to improving my foreign language skills, and become more fluent/proficient, in all three.
