Duncan Watmore

brought down one long ball pretty well over his shoulder from 40 yards (from memory) I just wonder when people say that he has a poor first touch, do you not include that, or is it just being forgotten?

I just think it would be accurate to say that sometimes his first touch lets him down. No hyperbole.

everything isn't about quality, the most important metric is effectiveness. Is Johnson a more skillful player? undoubtedly.

But Watmore is showing he can be just as effective as Johnson (must have a few assists so far this season, should have had a few more as he has played some great passes into Defoe who simply hasn't capitalised like you would expect.)

so... our two best chances?:lol::lol:

I completely disagree. I think he's miles away from being as effective as Johnson.

His first touch on the pass that PVA pinged at him was sublime today and it resulted in him setting up the goal , if he can keep doing this until borini is back he will be an asset.

Contrast his attitude to that of a petulant Januzaj, deliberately getting himself sent off a couple of weeks ago ,who clearly doesn't want to be here and doesn't give a fuck about Sunderland . Yet half this board would rather play Januzaj week in week out ,due to him having a few decent games for Man U a couple of years ago . I had hoped Januzaj would be the signing of the season but for that to happen ,he would need an attitude transplant.

I sit in the premier concourse and was having a pint before the game overlooking the main entrance where you can watch the players etc park up and walk into the sol.

Anyway watched Januzaj park up and get out of his car and as soon as he seen a few of our younger supporters walking towards him for autographs he pulled his mobile phone out and 'started talking'

This 'call' which allowed him to ignore the young uns, lasted while he walked from his car and up to the sol main door. The 'call' ended just as he entered the sol.

I thought you f***ing ungrateful little shithouse, your injured and aren't in a hurry (I guess) and here's a chance to give a little back to some of our younger supporters.

Arsehole.

Never been on of Duncan's greatest fans due to his headless chicken displays, but though he played very well today.

I actually think he is probably better suited to playing away from home.

Probably the entire team is better suited to away games as we do not have a clue how to get behind teams in general.

For all our possession Foster was hardly troubled at all.

Thought he wouldn't last the pace but did

Still rather use him as Impact sub say on 70 mins when the oppo are tiring

Nothing wrong with stuff like that - I agree and our injuries are meaning he has to play at the moment. My issue is with all of the 'dog with a balloon' 'nee awareness' 'shit first touch' 'headless chicken' stuff all the PF experts continually spew out. No other player gets that level of 'expertise' given out on them all the time when much more are deserving of it. At worst, Watmore is a useful player but he looks to me a player that is still learning and getting better.

People complain about him, but he works and worries defenders by running at them. Also brings some enthusiasm, similar with Gooch. Rather him than Kharzi or Januza for me.

The lad has talent if we had a better team hed be a better option off the bench as he develops, unfortunately we havent so hes as good as we have. Id rather he plays than Januzi.

If he was at Palace or somewhere people would rate him highly. Once we're set up to take advantage of pace on the wings he'll be a real asset. For now I'd prefer he was an impact sub but needs must and I honestly think he could be a star for us. Not a pretty twinkle footed star but an effective one.

This is the problem with some of our fans.

Watmore was poor today made 1 good chance and had the assist. But did lots of running (like a headless chicken) with no end product 95% of the time.
But he did lots of running flattered to deceive getso MOM on here.

Flashback Sessognon would create chances every game cause loads of problems but wasn't as headless our best player at the time. But he was a 1 in x player.

Johnson consistently our best player over a season not according to some. But Watmore gets raved about when he is nowhere near prem standard

Really maturing this season. Has improved his control and passing immensely. Good replacement for Johnson with the added bonus of pace too
Really like this is the type of player this is who I want on Sunderland's team sheet every week

Nail on head mate.

Our fans rather the players graft than have any quality.
