Was the stand out player for Wigan in the Championship by a mile. I don't know how you can deny McClean is a solid Premier League player. I'm not saying he's great but he is solid without a doubt. Pops up with a few goals and assists all season
But Watmore created a lot today including the goal.
Watmore created our best two chances and I agree but if you play in a shite side like sunderland , you need to help out your fullbacks . I don't think janazaji is particularly interested in doing that . He's a good footballer though , not suprised Dortmund cut his loan short however .Thats the irony though with Sunderland fans. Watmore will work like a dog, win corners create nowt and the fans will love him. Januzai will look lazy, half arsed but create a clear cut chance and be slagged off by SAFC fans![]()
I don't understand comments like this, he was clearly decent at worst today. Even the commentators were raving about him. What is it with the Watmore fan club? He was poor today, you're only deluding yourself if you think his head down, headless chicken runs are useful.
His first touch is shite and he dwells on the ball for too long when he's under pressure. Did some good things as well but got a lot to learn still.
He's lightyears away from the same quality as Johnson.
We created fuck all as a team so I dont know how he created a lot. He created the Defoe chance and the goal and played well but more often than not has little end product.
Our two best chances of the game, one of them resulting in a goal, the other a woeful miss from Defoe ffsWe created fuck all as a team so I dont know how he created a lot. He created the Defoe chance and the goal and played well but more often than not has little end product.
See above.A must be watching a different game to all you's like aye he works hard but he's shit on the ball, clumsy and a headless chicken, these sort of player are not bad off the bench but he's a championship players end of
Just runs into his team mates and gets outmuscled. I like his attitude like but haven't seen these development the OP was going on about.
brought down one long ball pretty well over his shoulder from 40 yards (from memory) I just wonder when people say that he has a poor first touch, do you not include that, or is it just being forgotten?
I just think it would be accurate to say that sometimes his first touch lets him down. No hyperbole.
everything isn't about quality, the most important metric is effectiveness. Is Johnson a more skillful player? undoubtedly.
But Watmore is showing he can be just as effective as Johnson (must have a few assists so far this season, should have had a few more as he has played some great passes into Defoe who simply hasn't capitalised like you would expect.)
so... our two best chances?![]()
Not true. Good playerGood one. Terrible that we've left in a position where he has to start games. Can't fault his desire or his work rate but he's an impact sub at most.
Thats the irony though with Sunderland fans. Watmore will work like a dog, win corners create nowt and the fans will love him. Januzai will look lazy, half arsed but create a clear cut chance and be slagged off by SAFC fans![]()
You can have a good touch from one particular ball but generally, it's not good enough.
so as I said, sometimes his first touch lets him down.
He is improving like needs to learn how to shoot rather than pass. A bit like Kirchhoff.Really maturing this season. Has improved his control and passing immensely. Good replacement for Johnson with the added bonus of pace too
Assist last week and against qpr and would of against spurs if Defoe could have been arsed to moveDid Watmore not create the chance from which the goal was scored ? Did he not create the chance for Defoe to miss an absolute sitter ?
Of course he has faults to his game ,unlike most young players ,he's only been full time , for the last couple of years .
