Quite a lot of people took an hour or so to watch the funeral. You aren’t levitating above others by spending your time between 2-3pm doing what ever you did instead of watching.

Totally agree, The less funerals I attend in my life the better as far as I'm concerned and that includes watching the bloody things. However there's plenty of mad bastards out there who love shit like this so let them crack on.

Whilst his life may not be more important than your Granddad's it was a lot more public and he was an important figure in British modern history. As the Prince Consort of the longest reigning Queen of England he was rightly given a send off with full honours.
That doesn't belittle your Granddad, or my Dad, my two Granddad's, my four Great Granddad's who were all down the pit at 14.
It didn't stop me from spending an hour after watching the match admiring a marvelous bit of pomp and grandeur that sets Britain apart from a lot of the World. I enjoyed it and don't worry, I've got a grip.
