Dublin City

I have quite a few English friends. They have done nothing but made me feel welcome whenever I go over to see them. In fact, I've never been made feel uncomfortable in England because of the fact I'm Irish.

I treat anyone visiting here from England with the same respect I get over there. & I would think that every one of my circle of family & friends do the same. I'm not saying for 1 second that what the poster said, doesn't go on. But to say the English aren't welcome in Dublin is almost certainly a load of old guff.

I'm in Cork & there's a ridiculous amount of English people living here. They don't seem to feel unwelcome.
Why so many in cork out of interest? Ps been to Dublin several times, class city and never had as much as a sideways look.

I'm booked up to go to Dublin for a few nights in February.

I think the Guiness Factory Tour is a given, but can any of you recommend anywhere else to visit?

Ireland play France in the 6 Nations whilst I'm over there but I don't fancy paying £120 plus for a ticket.

TIA
We were there in March last year, and had a great time.
Unfortunately we didn’t get time to go to the Harbour, it’s supposed to be really buzzing down there, might be worth checking out.

Even for a capital city it feels expensive, I’d say it personally felt more expensive than London with not half as much about it either. Been to plenty of non expensive capitals as well by the way.
Ireland is expensive. Even things like newspapers are double the price of here. Their welfare state is fairly generous I believe, decent pensions for the elderly etc.

As for it not having as much about it as London, there’s about 9 million more residents in London. It’s not a like for like comparison. The pub scene in Dublin leaves London in the drift, that much I do know.

I know it’s expensive and I used London as an expensive capital city. I don’t agree with the pub scene comment. Like I said at the start it’s Dublin in proper average

Everyone’s tastes differ. I really like the vibe in Dublin. Few too many pubs serving food for my liking these days but still plenty of gems to while away the day in.
No idea. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe because they feel comfortable, Cork is pretty & the people are sound?
Weekend flights on Ryan Air from Newcastle are seriously cheap atm. I’ll try it out before too long.

Give me a shout on here if you ever decide to come over. I haven't lived in the city in about 20 years now, but I would like to think I'd be able to point you in the right direction, in regards of things to see & do.
