Dry January

The worst month for the hospitality trade too.

If you like a sup you should probably do it in December when all the QPRs are clogging up the bar annoying the regulars.
Aye. Soft bastards putting pubs out of business in the quietest month of the year

The quietest month of the year after the quietest couple of years they have had for ages, it is quite clearly another kick the industry could do without. Do dry January if you want but do so whilst acknowledging you may hurt your local. Alternatively if people are still going out and spending the same on becks blue or diet coke fair play.

Does having half a bottle of wine with your dinner on a night count as 'drinking'? Does it count as 'getting pissed'?

Interested to know what counts and what doesn't.

TBF I was only mucking about to annoy @Raker , people can do what they like. Would be nice if they saved it til about May mind, as someone who works in the pub game

You’ve failed either way really, sit in the corner and think about what you’ve done.
You might be right mind. Ate and and drank all day and went to bed feeling...normal. Rank.

Could have spent the money on drugs and lives a thousand lives in my head.

They definitely aren’t!

Reached the half way point today, as last day for me has always been the 28th January as out for wife's (no) birthday on 29th January. Normally try and be dry Monday-Wednesday, but knocking the other four days on the head has been easier than expected, so far. Do miss the variety of tastes that drinking provides with beers/wine/cocktails all on the normal rotation, and that first hit of relaxation as it enters the bloodstream!

Feel no healthier for it but can see the impact on weight as the belt has tightened a notch.
