Dropping a settee on your big toe

Anything that involves fingers and toes is absolutely horrible. Makes me wince thinking about it

I took the tip off my left hand middle finger off in a fire door with only a flap of skin holding it on. The doctor managed to save it but you could see the marrow in both sides of the open wound once I bent the tip over.

Before the incident I had tried to get out of it with the following statements:
  • I'm hungover
  • I'll do it any other time but now
  • We're going to have to move all the other furniture first to get it up the stairs
  • Why not pay a little fella to come and do it for you?
  • Why are we doing this when there's a heatwave
  • Why don't we get a Deliveroo instead?
  • If I get injured because you're too weak to lift your end I'll kick off
Lesson learnt? Probably not.
I just went to watch England at the club while my mrs rearranged the front room. She’s gonna do the painting tomorrow while I “work”. You need to step up (or down).

An unpleasant experience, especially in bare feet.

I sat with it in a bowl of ice for most of last night but when I went to bed I woke up a few times in the night because I could feel it throbbing. Can't put any weight on it so I'm hobbling around the house.

Should I try and treat it with anything, like Nurofen gel or Deep Relief? Have it in ice? Or just feel sorry for myself and wait for the nail to drop off?
