TWO and a half years ago goalkeeper Luke McCormick was jailed for killing two boys in a drink-drive smash.
Yesterday he was out enjoying the Bank Holiday with his fiancée and young son.

Amanda and Phil Peak would probably have been doing something similar if McCormick hadn't devastated their lives by ploughing into their car, leaving sons Arron and Ben dead. Phil was crippled for life.

The ex-Plymouth Argyle player was twice the booze limit as he drove on the M6 "like an idiot" after just two hours sleep.

He got seven years. The maximum sentence is 14.

He's been in two cushy jails with easy jobs and plenty of perks.

Yesterday he was all smiles as he celebrated his son's second birthday on a shopping and dining jaunt.

Not exactly what you'd call throwing the book at him.

McCormick will be released soon, having served his time. Perhaps to return to his lucrative career.

Let's hope he doesn't forget this:

The Peaks are just three years into their life sentence.

the whole sentancing system is pointless.why give someone 7 years, then decide later that three and a half will be OK.if the judge says 3 years,it's 3 years, unless they are twats inside, then it is increased.people who are a danger to the public are the worst.drink drivers, rapists peodophiles, thugs are in prison for 2 main reasons for me.to punish them for the crime.and to protect the public.how does letting them out early protect the public.this is one reason why we should not be in europe.we could be as hard on the bastards in society, without being pulled up by europe for violating their human rights.yet neither party will really grasp the nettle and be hard on crime,as they always promise to be before elections.

a friend of mine is mates with that Jordan Robertson who got locked up for dangerous driving. He was at Sheff Utd at the time.

He got out a few month back, after serving 2 years. The article above seems to suggest that McCormick will be let out soon, which won't be much more than Robertson got.

Now both incidents led to fatalities. However McCormick was pissed and killed; whilst Robertson was changing a track on his iPod and crashed into someone killing them.

Now I'm not saying that the sentence for Robertson should have been shorter, but surely McCormick must serve a higher sentence?

I can understand it like. What about his poor little lad that has to deal with his dad's mistake? No skin off anyone's arse as far as I'm concerned.

and I can understand that, yes, his little boy shouldnt have to suffer...but thats what he should have thought of shouldnt he?? The consequences of our actions dont ever just affect ourseleves and he selfishly never gave anyone, including his family, a second thought.
