Doxford gatehouse

"The structure, which dated back to 1903, was a reminder of Sunderland's glorious shipbuilding heritage. "

But who wants to be reminded of Sunderlands glorious heritage ? We have an "iconic" new bridge which might even win an award. That will show the rest of the world we mean business.
Have you heard of Keel square?,bang in the middle of the town centre ?

Some of the people of Sunderland would twist on 21
Any development of Sunderland is a bad thing in their eyes, nobody has been interested in this building since the shipyards have closed, now why all the interest apart from a reason to argue that Sunderland Council doesn't care about the heritage of the City.

Spot on - a couple of people rant on about the council always tearing down buildings and all of a sudden it's a pile in.
They've saved the only significant part of the building but they still have to moan on. Cretins.

Looks excellent that. Hope they add a blue plaque for future generations to read.

Usual comments from the usual deadbeats on the page include:

"Sunderland Council must of hired someone from Newcastle"

"Better than the concrete boxes on the Vaux site"

But there was plenty of sensible people posting how great they look.
