Do your kids share your taste in music?

My eldest who's 16 has been to see Ocean Colour Scene plus Smiths and Arctic Monkeys tribute bands over the past few weeks...
She's bang into the Kinks and Dr Feelgood atm....I keep feeding her bands to check out...

Mine are 4 and 8

Youngest will only listen to disneys descendants songs or similar

Oldest likes a bit of Fleetwood mac.

Went through her play history on the iPad there. George Ezra and Harry styles so she’s starting to pick her own music likes and tastes.

Five year old likes Yard Act, The Beatles and The Kinks.

(When I say like it just means two or three songs that he puts on repeat.... Blackbird by the Beatles gets played to death. At school when they were having a party he asked for Dark Days to be put on when others were requesting songs from Disney films ).

My wife takes a more random approach and can't even be relied on to even put the CD back in the correct case. Drives me mad, can feel myself becoming irritated just typing this :)
I'm surprised you haven't divorced her, sounds a complete wrang un

No - he likes that rap shite.
Never plays it in front of me because he knows the response.

I have one of those - Ffs what is wrong with them.

Don’t have kids, but I like a lot of the same stuff my dad does.

Mainly 80’s and early 90’s. Soft rock I think his main genre would be.

I do like a lot of stuff he can’t stand like.

My youngest has music playing on a speaker at the moment. I've just checked her Spotify playlists and so many artists / albums / songs are ones that I have on mine. Mainly 80s stuff and Indie types.
Yes. Very proud to say so. My now 15 yo got It into it all the week Bowie died, he is her Hero. Followed by Pistols, Clash, Smiths, Joy Division, Stone Roses, Arctic Monkeys. Fontaines DC. Plus varios others. Good lineage through British music.
Taking her to see Pixies in a few month.

Aye some of them are on our list. Pixies in Madrid?

Yes and no. Some of the stuff I like he really likes, some I think he might like he's not arsed on. He's 9 though so the main places he gets to listen to music are probably the radio in the car, if I've got some tunes on in the house, or through FIFA and Rocket League on the Xbox.

The FIFA soundtrack this year seems to be a load of tracks from previous games. Stuff like Blur and Digitalism on there that I really like and he likes too. It's great when he hears a song that's new to him and likes it.

They're alright Cavetown. Think they're mainly one lad who used to be a lass?

The bairn has been learning their song Devil Town at his guitar lessons for what feels like forever now. I must have heard that song about ten times a day every day for the past month. Good job I like it.
Aye that's a canny song, I just had a read up, not had a sex change, 'they' are transgender

Aye, the bairns just turned 12 and bought Definitely Maybe on vinyl from Hot Rats in the town the other week. She also likes The Cure, Queen, The Beatles and Weezer 😂 She likes new stuff as well to be fair, going to Glasgow next month for her first gig, some American's called Cavetown, I'll just have a few pints, sure it'll be canny
Cavetown is a singer from Oxford. I know this because I took my daughter to see him at Brudenell Social Club in Leeds.

My eldest daughter (16) likes most of the music I do and is also into T Rex, Wet Leg, Sports Team, The Go! Team, Fontaines DC, Yard Act.
My youngest daughter (14) is into Harry Styles but has started listening to The Arctic Monkeys as she’s going to see them later this year.

Youngest daughter (20) loves a lot of my older stuff, like the Stones and The Doors. Got a son who likes a lot of my 80's indie stuff.

Some of it but what we have more in common is how much it means to both of us . He's got cool tastes for a young lad .
