Thats haggling though Wilfy. Rule of thumb is if your doing a job dont haggle if they are providing the service haggle like chuff.

I’m unlikely to take a reduced sandwich in Tesco to the self service checkout and ask it to take 20p off.

Mind, i once bought a 6 pack of buns, then at checkout i noticed the pack only contained 5. When i pointed it out lass on till said she'll go & get a swap, i asked if i could still have them but at half price. They agreed so i got 2 free buns.

Yes. Often get a couple quid off .

Independents will always do. Quid or three. Big chains certaibly for furniture haggle like mad. Can get some big discounts. You know some stuff had huge markup so room for manouvre

Last summer on holiday I went into a cigar shop while I was roaring drunk. and asked the price of a Cohiba. He told me 20 Euro so I decided to haggle - 'I'll give you ten'. He looked at me totally nonplussed and said 'It costs 20'.

So I paid 20. I am not a good haggler.

Thinking about it, it was an 8 pack not 6. So i got 3 buns free.
I knar its only worth ten bob, but sometimes daft little things like that do feel like a bit of a victory.

I worked at Morrison’s when I was a student and people are actually this cheeky. Some would even have a tantrum if told no.

What ive found bizzare is the dearer the car the less manouvre. On an expensive car I was told in 3 places “thats the price, end of”. Maybe a smaller marketplace?
