Do you back a wage-cap in football?

I agree, the people writing the cheques are bonkers. But I think it will settle down, now that the Klondike that was the early Sky deals have levelled out. I think the Chairmen just assumed money was going up every year.

If a club is getting £50m in income, they should be able to balance the books. I think that is what we are aiming for and once it is stable the club will make small profits. Bruce is part of this because he has a track record of getting bargains.

The business is in the hands of the Chairmen/owners NOT the players. The players can demand what they want, nobody has to meet their demands.

The problem is that the players are far and away the largest assets the club has and we've seen that if they don't get what they want they bugger off to another club because there's always someone who is prepared to pay (witness Rooney recently). Theres also the fact that the likes of Citeh and Chelsea have ridiculous pots of money to spend for no financial return, that is what skews the so called market

Personally I'm in favour of a salary cap in principle, but I have a feeling it's too late now as the horse has bolted already.

A wage cap would be great but it won't happen.

While clubs are prepared to pay them this and crucially the fans just accept it then it will continue.

Until fans stop attending matches and buying sky sports it will continue.

Not true...Chelsea are being ran properly these days, there is only Man City in this country who will spend stupid amounts. Greater chance that players will go abroad but to be fair, that would probably help the English game more than it would harm it in the long run.

How would that solve the problem of the f***ing off?

They could go where they wanted and once they reached the level of the cap, they can then coast along if they want.

I'm sure a few would.

Is that true or just their latest excuse for last Sunday?:lol:

Although I said no before, I do think clubs should have a total wage budget limit to a certain percentage of their turnover.

Limits the clubs they could fuck off to, only to those who aren't spending up to their salary cap at that moment in time. Seems to work in Super League where clubs aren't able to stockpile players like the mega rich in the Prem League can. OK they might fuck off to Spain or Italy but imho that might ultimately help us to produce our own home grown players, rather than rely on bought in foreigners

NFL tends to get a lot of stick of some people, soft fuckers for wearing helmets and padding etc but the concept and the way it works and regulated in 100% spot on.

Of course it can never work over here due to every country playing the sport and would have to be world wide wage cap and even then I would imagine someone get get it overturned in the courts.

Its like saying a film star can only get paid so much a film

How? A decent player would be able to pick and choose where he went. It's not costing the other club more than paying an average footballer.

i imagine the Rugby League clubs can't stockpile players because they haven't got the largesse that the premier league clubs have.

The Football Supporters' Federation are conducting a quick straw-poll of fans up and down the country. There's only two questions, and it will only take a minute to fill in. We'd be much obliged if you could. Just follow the link below

http://tinyurl.com/3ad6lau

For your troubles, everyone who fills it in gets entered into a free draw to win a copy of Football Manager 2011, just because we're that nice.

Cheers,

FSF

Fuck yes there should, but it should come from FIFA.. will it happen with those daft twats in charge.. will it fuck

A wage cap would hurt the Premier League too much in term of revenue so there is no chance they would do it, the FA have no clout in this country compared to the PL.

here is a gesture that would create massive good will from everyone.

why dont the players, in the premier league, give up a couple of days of wages and for one agreed weekend, let all fans in to the grounds for a £5 and the rest go to nominated charities?
