Do the Scots actually hate the English?

I worked in Leslie and Glenrothes for a while and found the locals did not like the english at all

I worked there a few year ago and it was like the land that time forgot, they do not like the english big time,it's like an obsession with them.

I find in shitty little inbred towns like Dumfries and Galloway they despise the English but In Glasgow and Edinburgh its a bit friendlier (with the odd knacker)

Worked a few times here and i've come across some of the biggest knobheads i've ever met in my life.

I've had a little bit of grief up in Aberdeen, however, they're mainly okay.

However, given the state some of the oil rig workers heading back to England get themselves into in the bars at Aberdeen once back on shore, I can understand why some of them get pissed off at us.

Inverness was a different matter. They don't like outsiders at all.

Some will, majority won't.

This.
My mate lives in Scotland and his Mrs/Mrs mates occasionally refer to him as an "English Bastard" but other than that I suspect it's all banter. For him anyway.
I've always had good craic when I've been in Scotland, and that includes freezing my arse off doing charity collections.

Although I was somewhat irritated when someone told one of my volunteers that "Kids with cancer should die". I'm not sure whether or not that person was English/Scottish or other

They hate other Scots in Inverness man.

I've never met a Scottish person that had a genuine dislike of the English. A bit of joking around, aye, but nothing more. I'm sure they exist but I don't think it's a huge number.

Wanting independence =/= hating the English.

That's more or less true. Same with supporting whoever is playing England at football. It's a way for them to have an interest in the summer tournament stages

Lived in Dunfermline all my life (dads from Sunderland), would say what you've said matches up alot of Fife, a bit uncultured and living in the past tbh. No issues with most English myself, just cant be arsed with the football team and much of the UK governement thats previously been noted in the thread.
I started working in Dunfermline almost 3 years ago and have lived in Edinburgh all my years. The high street at lunch time is a daily delight, it's like wandering through an open air zoo!

PS - Love the english me, great craic, my xenophobic countrymen can fook off. Don't know anybody who's been to Sunderland for the weekend to see a match who doesn't love the fans, people and craic in and around the city.

Lived and Worked in Motherwell for the last 3 years and I can honestly say until I came up here I thought the jocks were OK. After being up here for 3 years my mindset has changed dramatically, they are the biggest insular small minded bitter bunch of bastards I've ever came across. The anti English mentality stretches further than workplace banter too sometimes to the point where I know I've not gotten jobs after being interviewed simply because of me being English

I truly hate these bastards with a passion now and cannot wait to relocate to the states this year

I raise you Stanley in County Durham (the one near Consett not Crook). :)

I'm there all the time and never ever had an issue. Always had a good crack on, usually along the lines of "Well, you're from Sunderland so you;re not really English, you were one of us.".

They hate other Scots in Inverness man.

They f***ing hate folk from Dingwall.

It's gotten even worse since McDonald's closed weirdly, shame really, the town has some bright points (the Glen / Abbey / Alhambra etc) but the management of the place is a shambles.
