Question of Sport .....Hampshire could be relegated for the second successive year if they're not careful.....
Both games against Hants this season we've had our group singing we should be playing Durham, and when we went to the Rose Bowl a few lads bought Durham polos/flags off eBay and turned up with them.
I think they've actually replaced us as the most hated County in cricket![]()
I'm 99% sure there is mate. I'll ask around for you!Any photographic evidence of this? Could be my next avatar.
Is it actually the case that? Everyone hates them? Marvellous if true.
If there's any justice in the world, Hampshire will be relegated and Rod Bransgrove's next shite will be a hedgehog.
There a moany lot when things go against them aren't they. I wonder if they thinking about getting the ECV to relegate someone else instead of them, if it comes to it.Hampshire coach Craig White is whinging that relegating two teams is "too harsh"

This is the only logical thing to do, the lopsided fixture list as it stands is stupid.. Although my solution would be to restore the competition to what it was last year, ie same number of teams in each division and everyone to play each other twice.
I go back to something that gets on my wick, why can't the CC be played with a full fixture list every round? 9 teams playing 16 games each could be done in 18 weeks. This is the only logical thing to do, the lopsided fixture list as it stands is stupid.
2 up and 2 down has ensured that promotion and relegation issues have gone right to wire resulting in very few meaningless games. 1 up and 1 down would result in most end of the season games being meaningless. Well thought out suggestion Mr White. Yes there's a 25% chance of being relegated! There's also a 25% chance of being promoted!Hampshire coach Craig White is whinging that relegating two teams is "too harsh"

If it too harsh perhaps we should go and play in a different league.
Sorry Craig that is utter twaddle and if the heat in the kitchen is too high for you go and get a job elsewhere.
We are in the mess because our top order batsmen are not delivering. Just look at the averages. All of them are below expectations. Adjusting for Berg and Abbott over achieving with the bat I reckon we are 70/80 runs a game short of what we need to be achieving and should be achieving. If 50 of those runs were in the first innings we might have a more acceptable level of batting points.
As Kevan James said on Solent at the end of the Essex debacle: there are 4 in the top order we need to be worried about..

Absolutely right. It is very lame to wait until the end of the season when we are in threat of relegation to turn around and say the structure of the league is wrong. The mentality seems to be to find any excuse whatsoever to point the finger at. At the start of the season the league rules were known- I didn;t see too many comments from White then about what a "harsh" set up it was. Rather there was endless Kool Aid talk about how well we were placed with such a strong squad. Strange how things change when the pressure is on.

These remarks from Craig White typify what is wrong with Hampshire cricket. There is an unjustifiable sense of entitlement about the place because of all the investment in the playing staff and the world class surroundings provided by the Ageas. The reality is the team is second rate and saturated with Kolpaks and other mercenaries who with some exceptions, have proved to be disappointments or even disasters like Topley and Rosseau.
The Cricket Committee needs to look very closely at itself and the quality of recent decisions. My own preference would be to forget about the current "galactico" approach of signing expensive overseas players to try and shore up the team and move closer to the Essex model of improving from within. I would tolerate some years of Div 2 cricket if we could see progress in the building of a club that locals can identify with.

I couldn't agree more. The quality of the decision-making process is terrible. here is a lot of "jobs for the boys" mentality. Nothing will change unless the management of the Club is revamped.

Tbf from the comments it looks like they're just as disappointed with the way the club is being run. No mention of the fact they shouldn't even be in the first division mind. What an absolute dickhead. Irony is completely lost on that weapon.
It makes for better competition that two go down and two come up. I fully agree with the lads stating two divisions of 8 too. It makes far more sense and to be honest I think every county would agree with that (I hope).
Thinking about this further, is there actually anyone in the world of cricket who would agree with him? It's absolute bollocks. If yo finish 7th out of 8 - can you really complain if you do go down?
Anyway, looking at the comments, the locals aren't happy - can't say I blame them. Might create an account and wind them up![]()
Somerset 236 all out. Middlesex 5/3 in response![]()
Have you seen the state of the pitch they've prepared? Turning square from the 1st session, spinners took 9 wickets with the other being a run out
That'll be how Hampshire stop up....FTECB will deduct Somerset points

If Middlesex get no batting points and lose, Hampshite will overtake them with two bonus points and a draw - unfortunately![]()
