Dissent shouldn't be a sending off

So dissent is whatever the referee says it is? Doesn’t need to be swearing. Doesn’t need to be disagreeing. It’s defined by the ref?
What are you expecting exactly?

Yes, the ref has to make a judgement in the same way a teacher or employee will have to make a judgement about the actions or behaviours of students or employees.

As a boss, nobody gave me an exhaustive list of every word or action someone can or cannot make. It would be impossible. I have to use judgement and be confident I apply that correctly.

You cannot cover every possible permutation of what could be said or how it could be said. That is why both the rugby and football rules cover examples of disrespect e.g. sarcastic clapping or certain words and phrases in the rugby rules (I won't repeat the rugby examples published).

So the ref booked him for nowt?

The ref was shite, but fairly sure he didn’t book him for the way he was walking.
How many booking should we see every single game then? Corburn was throwing his arms about and whingeing throughout, Greenwood booted the ball away. All that ok, aye?

Is “that’s not a f***ing foul” abusive? If it is, it’ll be less than 5 a side every game across the country

Red card for dissent ruins the game without anyone being hurt. Should be a hefty fine, not a red. Happens all the time with players hollering in the ref's face with no action taken, often ref just laughs it off.

Ref should be more bothered about booking players for pulling back and kicking the ball away.
Maybe an enforced substitution for dissent but a sending off ruins the game.

Not read all of this but on another thread, a ten minute sin bin would seem to be the answer. Players get worked up but give them 10mins to calm down and get them back on pitch. If do it x times then they get a ban. Destroyed the game today as do most sending off. Would like to know what was said but if something daft then the ref is in the wrong job. Once phoned, think it was EDF and said their bill was bloody ridiculous and girl ended the call because of foul and abusive language, wonder if she was related to today's ref.

Didn’t get a red card for dissent, he got a yellow card, which was his second, therefore sent off !

What are the guidelines exactly?

If a player who is appears unhappy with a decision and moves towards the referee then it is an instant yellow card.

These were set out at the start of the season and were clear whether we like it or not.

I’m saying that “it’s a f***ing foul” is soft. Thousands of players will have said it before and not got a card.

Going by those rules there were plenty of other examples on the pitch today of players doing stuff on that list and not getting a card.

Blaming Neil is pathetic. The ref was rubbish.
