Dissent shouldn't be a sending off

Red card for dissent ruins the game without anyone being hurt. Should be a hefty fine, not a red. Happens all the time with players hollering in the ref's face with no action taken, often ref just laughs it off.

Ref should be more bothered about booking players for pulling back and kicking the ball away.
Advantage to the rich clubs. Yellow card is the correct way for me. Its up to Dan to watch his tongue when he's on a yellow.

I don’t mind dissent being a yellow. What Neil said today wasn’t dissent.
love to know what he said that warranted a booking. if the ref booked everyone who swore at him during the game he's be the only one left on the field after 90 minutes
According to Mowbray, he said “that’s a f***ing foul”.

I’m sure he wasn’t the only one on the pitch who said that today from both teams, yet he was the only one booked for it

The ref blows goats, pass it on

He said that's a f***ing foul, the swearing wasn't directed at the ref, like if he said you're a f***ing wanker ref
He’s still shouting at the ref. Common sense should have seen the ref just tell him to shut up but it is what it is. Dan should not have put himself in a position to let the referee be a bell end.

The game has been suffering from bad behaviour and disrespect for a long time. These people are role models for others. Its found its way into kids games and some of what refs have to put up with in amateur games is disgraceful. There has been a voice for a long time calling for better behaviour in football.

Fines are meaningless. Clubs will pay them all day long and not care a hoot. If we want to iradicate it then we need proper penalties that make a difference. While we don't like it, hopefully today a lesson has been learnt by Dan Neil.

He knew the rules and he has only himself to blame.

I agree. But today the refereeing was shocking and one-sided.

I've been to plenty of games where a player has been sent off for dubious decisions and Yes, whichever team you are supporting....., it ruins the game.

Isn't it about time that like Rugby and other sports we have an Orange Card and Sin Bin where a player can be punished for say 15 minutes or so....I know this may make the team down by a man, defend for 15 minutes or so but this would not ruin the game for the Supporters....some of whom have travelled miles to get to the game!!!........ Personally, I wouldn't have blamed the 40,000 plus Sunderland Fans if they chose to leave, as it wasn't a (competitive) Football Match they were watching in the Second half Today

Just a thought............

The simple reason of consistency, book 1 for it then all should be booked.
