Good luck getting anyone to refereeMike the refs up and make consistent decisions.. the reports should also be made public
1) Deliberate handball onlyReferees will make mistakes, they’re human.
We also need to realise that the game is open to interpretation, read any match thread on here and you’ll see “stonewaller and “never a pen” next to each other. And that’s after replays
What needs to happen?
1) some rules need clarifying. I’m lost on hand ball these days for example
2) dissent needs to be cracked down on. It’s a straight booking, and a red if you carry on
3) managers who act like dickheads need stadium bans
4) pundits need to fuck off
5) VAR needs either changing or binning. And there should be none of this “calling to monitor” thing, it’s a cop out
Hopefully you get better refs as they are able to do their job better: but we need to recognise that they will still make mistakes, or make decisions that some of us disagree with
It was. But that kind of thing is pretty rare. Players make rare mistakes too, think the City keeper at Wembley last year, or the Styjek thing the other nightI’m normally in support of refs, it’s a very tough job in high pressure surroundings, but that last night was a mess and extremely baffling. Really can’t understand why he did what he did, an explanation would go a long way to appeasing people.
I‘m not condoning the behaviour of the City players, I hate to see players surrounding referees, but I can understand their frustration and annoyance when such a decision is made at such a vital time in a pulsating game.

Be right tho when he gets home he will have @redandwhiterob there waiting on knees to pipe him off
12 and 3/4 actually nerr nerrIts really not that baffling. He made a mistake. Saw the ball forward and misjudged the flight of it from his perspective. Maybe it looked like it was arcing away from Grealish, ref blew too early and instantly regretted it. He made an error.
On the consistency thing, he's never going to book Haaland after making a clanger like that. There's not a ref in the world whose going to have the temerity to book a player for dissent after such a monumental balls up.
You can't be more than 12 years old.
To be fair he had had an excellent game up to that point .I’m normally in support of refs, it’s a very tough job in high pressure surroundings, but that last night was a mess and extremely baffling. Of course he made a mistake, it’s as simple as that, but I’d like to know why he blew his whistle at the point he did, especially after initially playing a good advantage. Perhaps your theory is correct, but the ref coming out and explaining would appease a lot of people. Its really not that baffling. He made a mistake. It would be totally different tbfYes they're well paid etc, but why do they have to put up with so much verbal abuse.
There is a photograph up on the BBC website at the moment of Haaland snarling in the ref's face after a decision was made he didn't agree with.
Imagine if Haaland made a really bad challenge, and the ref was in his face snarling, telling him what he thought of it before brandishing the red card, sounds daft but it would be no different to what Haaland did to him.
I knew Hooper was the ref when Liverpool played Spurs and the offside was messed up but didn't know he was the ref who didn't send Onana off against Wolves.Of course he made a mistake, it’s as simple as that, but I’d like to know why he blew his whistle at the point he did, especially after initially playing a good advantage. If he was allowed to come out and explain, yes I do think it would.Do you really reckon it would appease people if you hung him out to dry Infront of millions?

Best post I have read for a considerable time. The culture among fans, players, and coaches alike regarding referees and their, let's face it, inevitable mistakes has gotten very toxic in recent years. There's been an increased level of scrutiny on referee's decisions since the introduction of VAR, which hasn't been helped at all by VAR refs somehow dropping clanger after clanger themselves. Doesn't look good for the future of refereeing in football when the attitude towards them has gotten so openly hostile.
I think you way wide of the mark there mate it would not help at all.If he was allowed to come out and explain, yes I do think it would.
Well exactly years and years of evidence totally back up that last sentence.Referees will make mistakes, they’re human.

It feels like the Refs are trying to get VAR scrapped.Getting silly now like. I think the players smell that refs are on the ropes with these recent VAR stuff and are pushing their luck. PGMOL are making a pigs ear of this season and obviously the players are trying to have them doubting themselves.
