Disrespect towards Referees.

A rugby ref has just withdrawn from upcoming internationals because the abuse is so bad. Okay I’d be in favour of that too, but come on we need to support these guys better. ATM they’re just getting hammered and seem petrified to just referee the game.
Yeah I agree , do you think though its got worse since VAR ?

100% because the scrutiny just goes through the roof as no one will accept perceived errors with technology. However, let’s not pretend it was all fine before VAR either

Well Neil should have went in like he was about to rape and pillage then and he would have been OK 🤣

So if that happened in a final or Man city needed 3 points to win the league what then ? I agree that Haaland went over the top but the ref made a horrendous mistake also. I agreed previously that the PGMOL are a piss take as well. If a ref makes a bad decision they get taken out for a week ( wow) I'm guessing they on a salary anyway ( might be wrong).

What would you like to happen to an official when they make a bad decision?

Thing is it was utterly nonsensical. The daft fucker blew play on and then when he saw city had the advantage blew up. The useless sod needs to explain himself or his thought process surely

Easy. He’s seen him play it long and not seen Grealish is going to latch on to it. Thinks he’s kicked it away and blown up. It’s a mistake.

Football ,a gentlemen's game played by thugs,
Rugby a thug's game played by gentlemen

This can be evidenced in the different ways the two sports treat their officials

The behaviour of players, managers, fans etc towards officials in football is beyond a disgrace
Without the officials there would be no game of football, and we are doing our best to drive them away from the game

Drive to a game on your own
Get abuse of players, coaches and fans for 90 mins
Drive home on your own
Trial by media and social media after every game

But let’s throw them to the wolves even more with kangaroo courts disguised as press conferences. That’ll help referees make better calls and encourage more referees I’m sure 🤦🏻‍♂️

The get them to explain there decision baffles me. It would solves nowt when it comes to pissed off biased football fans who are out for blood.

Also how often do you see a player come out and explain a red card, a player who misses a sitter, a goalkeeper who drops a clanger. You never seen any player come out and explain that. Asking an official to come out and explain a genuine mistake in tantamount to mental torture imo. Some of the stuff you see people come out with around all this is absolutely baffling. It defies any kind of logic

People are conditioned to see referees as sub-human and the game promotes and enjoys this culture of having the idiot in the middle you can vent all your fury at whenever you like. Now we’re in the social media age, 90 minutes isn’t enough. We need more content. Post-match humiliation of them on TV. Death threats to the family. These people are scum to me.

This is what I hated about the Neil red card. Not that he was sent off, but that it was obviously not going to be consistent. Which it hasn't.

The referee that sent Neil off was demoted from the Premier League for something similar iirc, but if it's in the rules for a player to receive a card when shouting at the referee, is that not PGMOL discrediting/undermining their own rules by punishing the referee enforcing them?
He wasn't even consistent in the same game - one of the 'boro players gave him verbals later in the game (much closer as well) but didn't even get spoken to.
