Disney world Florida

You can still do it somewhat cheaply tbh the main expense is Disney. We got universal + the 3 tampa parks for 400pp for 14 days, Disney by themselves wanted 500 for 14 days or the combo was about 900pp.

Going to do 2 day trips to Disney as it’s the babies first time so wor lass wants the photos in front of the castle with Mickey etc. i used to book flights and accommodation separately which always saved money vs deals with travel agents.

It’s not the cheapest holiday but you can always save money here and there.

Was the same 1st time we went in 2006 and because it was that cheap and that good we went back for another 2 weeks in 2007.
The shuttle was due to take off when we were there in 2007 and got cancelled due to bad weather and took off the day we flew back🤬🤬🤬

They have so much demand, they've simply decided to match the price to the demand.

Its shitty, but its how big business works these days I suppose.

I wonder if this cash grab damages them in the long term though.

They’ll get bad press for sure but truth be told there’s nothing like it anywhere else so they could probably charge what they want and people will still go.

Dreading what I’m going to have to pay when there next year and that’s after tickets to just get in are sorted.

We're heading across to the States again next year (flights booked) and going to incorporate another visit to Orlando.

The only thing that I want to see / do at the Disney Parks now is the new Star Wars stuff. Reading this thread is very much making me think we should just give Disney a swerve. Already been encouraging the missus to think more about doing Busch Gardens, SeaWorld etc alongside Universal. But know fine well she will keep saying "but the youngest can't remember any of the rides at Disney".

Plus day tickets aren’t worth the price so you’ll end up getting weekly/fortnight tickets too. It’s just how it is unfortunately.

Seaworld is supposed to be canny now actually

Yeah, if you're going to Disney then really you r got to do a fair few days for it to be worth it.

SeaWorld - rides would all I'd be interested in. No interest in seeing any appalling "shows" with Orca whales etc. Then again I'd be a hypocrite for even giving them my money really.

When there's 5 of you, £900pp just for tickets soon adds up - that's nearly five grand just for the tickets.

The old tickets do last forever, aye. Folks have a few odds and ends left over from ages ago.

IIRC, last time they used one, the lass on the gate had absolutely no idea what to do :lol:

I think I read you had to go to guest services and they would exchange it for something that works on the scanner. I didn't bother in the end.

At one point there was no finger print, you just put the tickets into a reader thing and it spat it back out.

Tickets cost more than the flights and accommodation, especially if you stay off site.
Here right now and its heaving with people.

Genie+ which is $15 a day per person to get you around 3 fast passes (which used to be free) has for the last 2 days sold out for all.the big rides within 30 minutes of the parks opening. So no one can get any passes for anything comes 9.30 for what is meant to be an all day perk -add in that you can only book 1 ride at a time unless you stack (and that would only get you 2 passes for the day currently)

They've stopped the concierge service where anything you buy in the parks gets sent to your hotel room.

Saw hundreds of people walking round with the huge lightsabres that cost $300 each, a family of 4 had 1 each :eek:

Early entry is now 30 minutes having previously been 1 hour and the extra 2 hours after park closes are only for the deluxe resorts.

Disney footfall will start to shrink, especially from UK visitors if the Pound never recovers against the dollar.

that's basically all the shit things we've been hearing, all in one post.
And that's why our "magical disney land experience" for the twins is going to be Paris Disneyland in January. No way I'm paying those prices for such a poor experience in Florida.

We dont have kids yet, so for us it's not been a problem or something we didnt prepare for.
But totally agree with your POV for your kids experience.
Hopefully the pound rallies and Disney does a rethink on their current Genie+ strategy.

I'm sure they'll quickly fix the Genie+ problem of being massively oversubscribed. By doubling the price.
