Dippy egg and soldiers


Once a week, normally for dinner on a Friday.
One egg is not a dinner...you're not a borrower, are you?
Making a meal must be a reet fuck on for him :lol:

If from the fridge, leave eggs to get to room temperature.
Boil water
Put eggs in for 4 minutes
Hoy bread in toaster
Take out and butter toast
Take out eggs and cut heads off.

Done inside 10 mins.

I've just realised it's hard boiled eggs I'm thinking of, but you can tell how long it's been since a dippy egg 😊
 
Get up in the morning, same thing from breakfast.
A fresh egg from one of my neighbours free range hens, poached on really rough but lightly toasted peasant bread, but there is a secret.
The secret it took me 70 years to discover, that took me many journeys into the realms of hidden esoteric mystery . The one secret which may hold the key to life eternal and bestows almost tantric levels of sexual endurance..
As soon as the rough bread is lightly toasted you rub a garlic clove over it till a decent clove is reduced to half it's size, drizzle then with lashings of the best olive oil, add thin layers of tomato, like a pommadora, sprinkle with sea salt, pop your perfectly poached egg on top, dust with pepper. then wash it down with a mug of strong high quality coffee and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice

2 of my children and various nieces and nephews have never had eggs in their true natural form. They say it isn’t unusual and many of their mates don’t eat them either.
As a kid I reckon 1/3 of my protein was from eggs.
 
Anyone else still 6 year old at heart and eat this still? Absolute classic imo. Don’t eat it regularly but the few times a year I do it’s always lush. That is all x
3 eggs, three slices of bread with proper butter and about 10 grams of salt on the eggs and the soldiers.

My weekend treat! f***ing love it!

2 slices of bread, pinch out a hole from the middle, cook bread in the frying pan (medium heat) with 60/40 butter/oil, crack an egg into the hole you pinched out, turn over when ready and add another knob of butter.

Squidge of tomato ketchup on the side of your plate to dip into if required.

Toast or bread soldiers though?

To my mind bread soldiers taste better but toast soldiers are more hardy so they cancel each other out in pros and cons.

What the fuck? Toast makes soldiers, bread sounds more like a dad's army in comparison

Oh, look at me...I have an upper-class palette that can define the difference in the saline content of different types of salt.

The use of the word sprinkle gave you away.

Good salt makes all the difference man , doesn’t have to be expensive but sea salt vs council salt is a different league
