Diesel/turbo repair specialist recommendations

Car broke down today - a diesel CRV. OBD showed an error code P0299, which is a generic turbo underboost error.

Car was doing 70 then we got the check engine light and it went into limp home mode.

RAC erased the error code so we could get back home and it didn’t reappear.

Couldn’t see any loose hoses or split pipes anywhere and there’s no smoke or noise coming from the turbos themselves.

Can anyone recommend a diesel/turbo specialist who won’t have my eyes out? Cheers.

Just get an obd tool yourself so when it does it again you can just clear it and carry on.
I’d rather get it looked at first. We’ve got a few big journeys coming up and don’t fancy being stuck by a motorway for 2-3 hours again

There’s a place in Leechmere industrial estate which may be able to help.

I used Turbo Pacs in Durham years ago when the turbo in my SAAB went pop and I can highly recommend the lads in Leechmere.

Turbo pacs made a mess of our car years ago, I wouldn’t touch them.
Remember they quoted us £1400 and when I went to pay mark bumped it up to £1700 as said the initial price the lad gave us didn’t include vat.
After loads of attempts to get the car sorted after he had it we cut our losses and got rid.
Loads of reviews online about problems people have had with them

Turbo went on my Honda Civic a few years ago. Absolutely no acceleration but managed to limp the car to a garage. Fortunately for me it was just a pipe that had came loose and when reattached it was fine.

I do remember the mechanic saying that he knew the turbo was fine as he could hear a whistle when pressing the accelerator pedal. However he also said that if the turbo was bust I would need to take it to another garage as he wouldn’t fit a new one as it just brings a host of other problems.

I'd book it into a decent garage to double check the diagnosis. It's the price of the turbo that hurts . If local Pattons auto centre hendon
Frasers in Henry St
Forge in Ryhope
You'll need to book ahead
They all have to top kit for diagnosis and years of experience
