Did anyone do the school cross country in freezing conditions?

Around Princess Anne Park for St Bobs in Washy. I used to enjoy the running, was manky, freezing and hard work but got me away from the bullies as they couldn't be arsed to try. We used to get sent through the sewage overflows, rats and shite as well

Monkey house in the 70s. Course was around the fields and streams that is now the SOL Academy. God it was hideous - character building they said. How no one perished was pure luck 🥶

We ‘ran’ over Cleadon Hills and Marsden Old Quarry but in reality we hid near the White Horse painting until it was safe to follow the crowd on their way back to school.

Redhouse comp, run from the school to the quarries at Carley Hill then down to the Greyhound stadium then back to the school along some public right of ways. We only did cross country when the football/rugby pitches were either frozen or flooded.
