We would have written off the likes of Gareth Bale on here. We want young lads to be given a chance then people write them off as shite when they have a dip in form 🤷‍♂️.
For me , I reckon he has a very good future .

I don't disagree, but look at the abuse Honeyman got, and he was easily good enough for us

For young players you have to accept a great deal of inconsistency. For wingers that increases and for L1 level players you have to accept that 2 in 3 is as much as you’re going to get in terms of affecting the game. Crap or Good is the wrong question. Good enough for now? Is a better question. Maybe is my answer for Diamond. I’d like better and more consistent but young, money, L1, salary cap, winger, COVID, North East, shit team mates etc etc etc.

Tell that to Mumba

As things stand Mumba has moved from not being strong and physical enough to get a game in league 1 to not being strong and physical enough to get a game in the championship. Has he even started a game for Norwich yet? All Parkinson did at Sunderland was make a decision that he was ready to play, the same decision Farke at Norwich is making. I'm sure he would have rather kept him here and loaned him out but the club decided otherwise.

He left because he thought there was no pathway under Parkinson

Well Parky was wrong

Diamond is a player who flatters to deceive. When he makes a run, it makes the squad look very slow and this makes him look better than he is.

Diamond has potential and showed it against Lincoln where he was very good. He has looked quite poor at times, yesterday he was terrible I thought and the away game (was it Charlton or Gillingham) where he played most of the game. I think the massive criticism Parkinson got for not playing the young players was OTT theres only Diamond there has ever been a case for and he doesn't look better than what we have got at the moment.

Fully agree with that, Parkinson took a lot of stick for not playing them as if it was stupidity when the reality is probably at the moment, like you say, they are no better and in some cases not as good, as other players who have been playing more regularly.

Having said that not utilising them from the bench at all and looking to get them involved when giving games to Grigg, Graham and Obrien would have been valid criticism, especially given our predicament was short sighted to say the least and he did deserve some criticism there.

Whisper is we are bringing Luke Thomas in from Barnsley, reckon that will mean Diamond going out on loan for the rest of the season, Harrogate probably would be interested.

He’s out of contract in summer, a loan out and that could be the last we see of him. Minimum of bench with a few decent opportunities if we want him to stay imo.

Diamond's performance against Lincoln showed an ability beyond many in the squad. Yes, he was poor against Northampton but inconsistency is expected. We brought Johnson in, in part, because he can develop players. Diamond has the raw ability that should be right up Johnson's street. He should be top priority for Johnson/Speakman to extend his contract. If not, and its very early, I will be scratching my head about what Johnson and Speakman are all about.
