So you can take only either ones back Catalogue including their various bands who do you take?

Morrissey for me.

If that was my choice I think I'd try and disprove the fact you can't drown yourself.

But it is though;)

I suppose you have a point, makes me love them more though, class band the smiths with two really talented people in them.

Love most of Mozzas solo stuff and what Johnny has gone on to do, Modest mouse album he played on was good and he has really turned The Cribs into a really good band, rough around the edges but now some great melodies and really good live.

Weller is a class act but I have liked every album by Morrissey and the same can't be said for Weller.

Can be a little self indulgent for me.

I never really though Mozza hit the same heights with his solo stuff then with the stuff he co wrote with The Smiths tbh where as much as I love the Jam I thought Weller particular with Wild Wood, Stanley Road and his latest effort were all up there with things he done in The Jam

Each to there own though, not getting into these daft arguments nee more on here;)

Have to say I reckon Wellers best solo album is Heavy Soul.

I would also say that Last Of The Famous International Playboys, Irish Blood, Everyday Is Like Sundays and a good few others are worthy tunes to be on a Smiths best of were he to have done them while with the band.

I don't think Marr wrote much at all while in the Smiths Morrissey has always said the lyrics while in the band were like his diary.

Morrissey, piece of f***ing piss. His solo stuff is superb where as i can't think of a single Weller (solo) tune i like and the Smiths are loads better than the Jam (don't mind the Jam, like)

Mint

Conkered.

Morrissey has released some fantastic solo stuff, especially in the last 8 years or so. On top of that, the Smiths beat the Jam hands down. Stanley Road was one of the most overrated 90s albums around imo.
