Derbyshire v Kent

At Queens Park, Chesterfield. Abandoned without a ball bowled. Due to a wet outfield.

Derbyshire have played a few games there this season iirc and this isn't the first time that a wet outfield has caused lost time. The worst thing in cricket is when there's no play despite clear conditions.

Any thoughts at all on this? Not a great advert for outground cricket.

Same happened with Middlesex at Uxbridge last week.

Playing at outgrounds is fine, but common sense is required. Ridiculous scheduling games to be played at outgrounds during September, when there's gunna be rain around and the drainage isn't as good.

Playing at Chesterfield because some boy band have got a concert at the county ground. Just as well Kents promotion chase fell away. Still puts county cricket in a poor light.
