After 0-0 and 2-2 draws, George Holley and two-goal Jackie Mordue clinched a comfortable success in front of 49,354 fans on a Wednesday afternoon for Bob Kyle’s side.
In competitive fixtures at St James’s it was a ninth Sunderland victory in 18 visits, with 5 draws and just 4 defeats.
