Denver Hume

We were overloaded like
We were, but that was down to James.

It's the full backs job to communicate with the guy on his inside & the guy in front of him. As has been said, James was ball watching, & didn't call either his centre half across, or tell McGeady to pick up one of the spare men. It was a really poor goal to give away.

This. Nowt to do with injury but Ross being stubborn and not using him as he couldn't get his wages off the books in January. We'd be a lot more solid defensively and have a much more attacking threat with Oviedo back in the side. I'd like to see Hume play more though. Much prefer him to the mediocrity of James.
It’s all to go with money isn’t it ? If he makes one more start we have to pay Everton over a millio , not sure about the exact figure but we can’t afford to play him , manager couldn’t pick him if he wanted to.

So how is he promising

He can improve his end product. Would make him an excellent player.

Think that's very harsh, he gets into very good positions but the most difficult part is picking that final ball. Can remember him getting an assist against Rochdale as well. He's only 20 anarl so that end product is gonna improve.

I don't think it's harsh, I'd love to see him do well, I'm just saying he needs to improve (like all other young players do).

Got injured at an extremely convenient time.

this is a rumpour that has spouted up here without any evidence to back it up..

Isn’t that due to the fact we owe Everton more money if he plays anymore games?

I think it's more down to the player than money owed to another club.

Every summer he does interviews saying he wants to leave but nobody wants him. Eventually found someone who wants him and the deal breaks down (with us getting the blame) then he's immediately injured for months. When he's played this season he looked like he couldn't give a flying fuck as well anyway.

Worse than Oviedo defensively but his pace is an asset. If Ross is keen to bomb Bryan I'd have Hume in ahead of James.

this. Ive no idea why people are keen to have him playing based on performances this season.

He had a very tough day yesterday, they murdered us down that side.
I thought he did well against Lowe in the 1st half and it wasn't until he (Lowe) moved more central that he started to get in the game.
James looked like he was struggling 2nd half though and it was a definite tactic throughout for Bogle and later Hawkins to pull across to him to receive the long diagonal ball and he's never going to compete in the air against big cf's like that

James was a clear weakness yesterday and much of their play went down his side as a consequence. For a spell this season he was keeping Oviedo out on merit but looked out ofoit yesterday. He is often playing behind McGeady so doesn't get the same support as O'Nein usually does. Hume did ok but wasn't on long enough to judge and it was a different game by then. Defensively, only Baldwin did himself real credit constantly getting a header or a boot in - his clearances could improve for sure but he did his job. Flanagan fucked up massively for the second goal, flapping his arms about instead of getting in the right position to challenge. McLaughlin more or less had to come out with that going on. Flanagan had a poor game. O'Nein showed his lack of positional awareness a few times and I am always expecting him to give a cheap penalty aaway. He contributed well going forward in the first half particularly and throws himself in the way of the ball.

Hume > James.

Hume also wants to be here whilst Oviedo is the last of the premier league wage collectors who will probably forget all about us once he gets his move away and we're no longer paying his wages. Not quite in the same bracket as Kone, Djilobodji and gang mind.

Start Hume.

Our whole defence was all over the place second half. They had 2 men over unmarked every time they went forward and scored from one of them.

Matters were made worse by putting Gooch upfront then moving Mcgeady inside to play off him as it left us with absolutely nothing down the wing.
