Dennis Cirkin

One of the weakest positions both in present and future pipeline.

Dennis has been poorly advised here. No need to rush. His body is barely strong enough for a league season, let alone international games in the breaks.
Ive posted about this before . He is a Dubliner 100% and its a good chance for him to rack up International experience. More chance of games to look back on in years to come . Get in Dennis lad..

We made the mistake of not specifying with Phil Bardsley and had to pay him an extra £1m for playing for Scotland back in the day because nobody thought he had a long lost Scottish grandparent so nobody thought to specify which country. Hopefully we were a bit wiser with Cirkin as it was known before we signed him that he’s half Irish
Although Spurs will also be well aware that he’s eligible for Ireland and Latvia as well as England. If anything it’ll be tiered depending which country he’s capped by.

It's Kasey McAteer.

You're right but Dennis could still declare for Ireland.

Leicester City winger Kasey McAteer is the Championship player that is in the process of committing his international future to Ireland.
Stephen Kenny said after Monday night’s win over Gibraltar that he had been working on bringing in an Irish qualified winger from England’s second tier.
The Irish Independent understands that McAteer (21) is the player in question.
McAteer has made the breakthrough with Leicester this term, a club that he joined as an eight year old.
He made a Premier League debut as a late sub off the bench in a game with Newcastle in December 2021 but subsequently embarked on loan spells with Forest Green Rovers and AFC Wimbledon to gain experience.
Leicester’s relegation from the top flight opened the door for his first team breakthrough at the start of this season, and he made an instant impact by scoring twice in a victory at Rotherham in August.

My understanding is Cirkin wants a commitment to be first choice left back. Something that Kenny is reluctant to guarantee and won't be his choice after the next window.

Cirkin is happy to bide his time without that commitment. He has been on standby for the England Under 21's recently and has Latvia chasing him aggressively also.

My guess is if Republic of Ireland qualify for the European Championship next summer he'll take that option. If qualification is a failure he might keep his options open.

Southgate has been bemoaning the lack of left backs at England's disposal, he might have an eye on that too.

He’d be mad to jump to the ROI at this moment in time. If he can get into the PL and start playing regularly, he may get noticed by England

Let’s face it. He’s got no chance of an England call up realistically until he or we are in the prem.

Any news on Cirkin's injury and when he will be back ?

All i heard after the Birmingham game is that he felt his hamstring during the warm up, but that was 5 weeks ago now, maybe it was more serious than that.

He can always do a Declan Rice and change Nations should he ever become bad enough to play for Ingerland, that London Club!!!!!

He’s played about 10 games in three years let’s not get carried away eh

Or he’s started 15 of the last 16 (stupidly left out for Huddersfield). Just trying to make the point the comments around sicknote, legs made of crisps etc are ridiculous. A large part of Cirkin missing last season was being knocked out scoring down Millwall.
