It's a reasonable bet Spurs don't want to lose this lad and they'll do everything they can to keep him short of guaranteeing him first team football. If they refuse a bid or push too hard he'll walk at the end of his contract. Pure speculation on my part but selecting him the other day could be one way of telling him he's still their player and they want to keep him. It's possible he'd prefer to stay so he could be "negotiating" with both parties, using our interest to secure a better deal, promises of some first team involvement? Or it could be a right load of bollocks from first to last. :)

Shite that this deal seemed close now it probably won't happen.

Wonder if this means we go back in for Gallacher? Can't imagine that going down too well.

Josh Key has went quiet? Guessing we haven't received the cheque for money saved on printer ink.

Maybe go for the two Scots lads

I thought he was picked because half the u23s were on the bench for the first team

No way he'll get first team football

Ross signed 16 players in our first season in league one. Arguably only McLaughlin and O’Nien were good signings with Flanagan and Leadbitter being reasonable. Next season we signed 13 with Willis probably being the only good signing with Burge and Wright being the best of the rest.
Last season we signed 12 with Stewart and Sanderson being the only real successes and Winchester being okay. Signing any old shit with a promotion under their belt is what’s got us where we are. We absolutely have to be more targeted. The three so far seem very much more thought through. Two fullbacks, a centre half and a striker in similar vein would be a massive improvement on recent seasons recruitment. If we can also shift O’Brien and Grigg a wide forward would be good too but I’d rather only sign 2-3 more and give our young lads a chance than be lumbered with the likes of Loovens, Baldwin, Power, Scowen, McClaughlin, McFadzean and Matthews et al.
Good assessment, and spot on.
We were lucky the powders we released were out of contract, because we would have struggled to get them off our wage bill otherwise (with the exception of Wyke, obviously).
